BS. Radio has become much, much more relevant in my life in the last year. My local public radio station contains a mix of local, state and national news that keeps me informed. I can listen to it on a very cheap device and I can do other things at the same time since it's an audio-only format.
"...an xbox with xmbc handles HD streaming better than any other media streamer on the market. The only problem is that it can't handle most HD content."
You can buy the original Xbox at GameStop (in the US) for $60 used. However, my understanding is that it doesn't handle HD streaming well at all, and you still need the know-how to mod the system. Plus, it's huge...I'll take something small even if there is a price premium involved...which is offset by the ease of installing the MythTV frontend.
Maybe we can just settle the war by seeing who gets the most hits on YouTube...although I think an expensive and drawn-out war in the Middle East might be a friendlier competition.
This. I could basically avoid paying for TV shows on AppleTV at $2 each and just use this since I already have Netflix. In fact, I could even lower my subscription plan since I wouldn't have to wait anymore, except for new releases.
"No, but why would you want to? It defaults to Magnatune, which has a much nicer business model than iTunes. No DRM, more formats including patent-free Ogg Vorbis, artists gets half of what you pay instead of only 10% or less, you pay whatever you think is reasonable, and you're allowed, nay, encouraged to share."
Because I don't buy music based on business models and politics. Magnatune does offer some compelling music though.
I'm almost thinking the business plan of many of these internet-based companies is to simply de-fund Old Media with these acquisitions at outrageous values and use the money to start profitable ventures to bury the codgers once and for all.
The only thing that counts from the perspective of the TV networks is that they get the advertising dollars. The only thing that counts to advertisers is that their products and services are remembered. Is a network like Revision3 big yet? No, but they do produce quality programming and have sponsorship from companies like Netflix, GoDaddy & Virgin Airlines. At this point in time, they are more of a competitor to cable niche channels like G4.
It's already been done. I can watch all of Revision3's programming (ie, Diggnation,) on my TV with either my Xbox 360 or my AppleTV or an iPod. Also WineLibraryTV (Gary Vaynerchuk will be on Conan O'Brien next week, btw) and many, many more. Their sponsors have my eyeballs. Legal, commercial programming by RSS feed. Welcome to 2005. Any TV network that isn't doing this TODAY should be sued by their shareholders for negligence, IMO.
If you go to the edit menu in your browser and choose "select all" on the George Bush picture, he ends up looking like a Quintesson from the Transformers...which probably explains the last 7 years.
Even if it's a privately held company, if ebay offers to buy the company at a fat premium (premiums are typical for buyouts) and the board of directors refuses, they could be sued for breach of fiduciary duty. Yahoo is sort of running into this problem nowadays with Microsoft.

D'oh...that's what shareholder agreements are for...to prevent shareholders from selling to anyone that the other shareholders don't approve of. Anyone that goes into business with a family member without a written agreement is a fool.

They bought stock, which is privately held. On a tiny amount of companies are traded on an exchange. The vast majority are private.
I thought it was because they couldn't get a better spokesperson than Whoopi Goldberg to do their commercials.
Sound is a pressure wave...so yeah, it is loud near the Sun. This was discussed on The Universe (History Channel).

DOS was "NT" 1.0; OS/2 was "NT" 2.0 and NT 3 was NT 3.
My goodness that would take about....$400 worth of pudding!
Do you want to live forever? In any case, do you have a fear of death?
I see the word webinar being used a lot now in my area of financial services. It's a perfectly cromulent word.
Why should someone pay more money for broadband for the purpose of watching glitzier advertising?
You're paying for the smaller size...that kind of engineering isn't free.

Isn't this a conflicting statement?

I'll just post this to Digg :-)
You can still "discover" that your wife is cheating on you, although at least 2 others knew before you.

There is at least one work-related advantage. With a wider screen, I can ramp up the screen size in Word even more, thus saving my eyesight.
I would modify it to be "from_JoeBidens_PC_[INSERT NASTY FILENAME DESCRIPTION].jpg
