Wrong. The I(i)nternet is a bunch of computers around the world wired together. When you're on Yahoo or Slashdot, you're still sitting at your desk; it's just that you're accessing a bunch of servers located in California and Michigan, respectively. The notion of cyberspace as a "place" is for the sake of convenience in conversation and should not be taken literally.
I'm just referring to signals...neither can receive the HD signal w/o a box. There are also millions of people that are not about to buy an HD set when everything switches over to digital in (maybe) 2006.
My HDTV can't display HD programs unless I buy a separate tuner or get an HD set-top box from the cable co. So, from the get-go, I'm in no better a position with my 2004 TV than someone with a Predicta. Aside from the differing resolutions, my Motorola HD box can work on my new TV or a Predicta (using a 75ohm-->300ohm adapter most likely).
Because I (really, really) like the sound quality of their AAC files. Apparently, the sources for their AAC files are master tapes with a higher quality than CDs.

You can use an Airport Express and never buy anything from iTMS or purchase an iPod...just use your own MP3 collection. All three hardware products depend upon iTunes, but neither hardware item requires the other to use.
To be honest, Apple's products become much more useful (and more desirable to purchase) when people come out with neat hacks like this. The only reason I spend big bucks in their music store is because the DRM has been broken through the Hymn project.
I think it's because Ballmer blurted out at the meeting, "of course you did, you invaded Poland!"

Since we have this notion of someone being "innocent until proven guilty," I can see why having a webcam on while someone is being *booked* can be a problem. If (theoretically) everyone in the world can see John Doe getting booked for a crime which he may or may not have committed, how can he ever get a fair jury?
It might be a boilerplate line for every OS vendor, but should be held has true unless, as you state, there is a very specific contract in place between the hardware vendor and OS vendor. My guess is that GE, Philips and Agfa do not have access to a special "mission critical" version of Windows under a special contract.
I'm not a big fan of Microsoft, but I don't think the quality (or lack thereof) of their products is the issue here. I've read from their EULAs that their products are not suited towards critical applications (ie nuke facilities, life support). My point is that although a EULA is not a legally-binding contact, the fact that MS is stating in public Windows shouldn't be used in critical applications should tell you something. The bottom line is that if GE, Philips or Agfa build a medical system, they should be responsible for that product from the software up to the hardware. The fact that *they don't have control* over one of the components in their products (the underlying OS) is negligent, IMO.
I would get laughed out of court if I tried to blame a critical problem with a report I wrote on my secretary, and the same should happen with these companies if somebody's loved one dies from their irresponsibility.
As an example...the "Spider-Man 4 Experience" A disk that has a Spider-Man sequel on it, the movie's extra features *and* the tie-in video game. Would there be any space left after that...I have no idea what the storage requirements would be for a HD movie.
When I've plugged a mouse into my iBook, I've noticed that Safari uses it. I've only ever used the keyboard with Terminal. Overall, I mostly use the keyboard with Safari since there is a key command for just about everything.
I pretty much use the one button on my iBook exclusively because the apps are designed to not require right-clicks. On my Dell Inspiron, I go full out external three button trackball because the apps need it.
Comcast charges me $9.95/mo for their HD PVR, so the price difference isn't that great. I still have TiVo and it beats the Comcast PVR like a little bitch in terms of usability and functionality. As soon as TiVo comes out with an affordable HD PVR (preferably with Cable Card technology) I'm dumping the Comcast box.
That's what Thumbs Up/Down is for, in conjunction with watching your viewing patterns. Never failed me yet! I have more stuff that I watch in the "Suggestions" box than programs I picked myself. Just brace yourself the day your SO finds "G String Divas" in the suggestions box:-).

So *you* were the one that saw it! Oh, and please hand in your geek license :)
I do this with my 12" iBook and Airport Extreme now...I mean read the news with it, that is.
"For you hummer drivers out there..."
Let me fix that typo for you:
"hummer drivers" s/b "poseurs driving a Chevy Tahoe in drag"
OK, you may carry on now.

It's actually a reference to possibly the greatest episode ever of Fawlty Towers (old BBC comedy with John Cleese of Monty Python fame).

"...there are ez-pass scanners everywhere, including buildings all over manhatten..."
EZ Pass is used at toll booths, bridges and tunnels. Unless I missed the newsletter, can you now use it to pay for parking garages in New York?
Sure, ...in Japan!
Then this does not show how P2P can be used in a legal manner...INFINITELY USEFUL--yes!, but not legal.
