What does POSIX have to do with the standard C library? We live in a world where C is no longer the only language used. Why can't the spec be split into "system stuff" and independent "cross-platform (your favorite language) requirements"?

The Mozilla argument (B) is correct. Your argument should not be "everybody does it" (everybody does lots of shit that sucks too), but "the standard should be UPDATED to require this feature because it enhances usability".
The main qualifying factor for a democratically elected official is being representative of the people who elected him. Why the hell should an elected official NOT keep an open web forum? I want my representatives ACCOUNTABLE.
And even if you don't...does anybody EVER read documentation on something as boring as an office suite? If it isn't intuitive, it should be fixed to begin with.
It's very interesting to hear that freenet is built on Java. I had been looking forward to NIO, do you have any links or references to these "bugs"? Where are these irc/cvs logs?

You elected the president. The director of the FBI and CIA (AFAIK) are appointed, not elected, offices...so...they are not accountable directly to you. The real question is whether this is a good idea...
The servers will definately run on Linux. The clients on the other hand will be entirely up to Linux users to figure out. Until Linux desktop users provide a market for games (i.e. they actually start buying proprietary software), there is zero incentive for game publishers to support Linux, and I can't blame them (there is very little "common good" argument to be made for game software which is typically non-reusable).
On the other hand, if there is a Mac version, that is 80% of the way there considering Mac OS X is now unix.
Kucinich's waffle on abortion destroys his credibility to me. If you can waffle on such a major issue just to court your main audience, what else will you waffle on? On the other hand, he is a nice foil of an extreme left, that might make a moderately left candidate more reasonable looking.

Shouldn't you use automake? ;)

STOP insisting that laws are SANE. DMCA was, is, and continues to be used against reverse engineering. Can anybody say Dmitri Sklyarov?

Don't forget that Sun has a excellent set of Java tutorials online for free:
Tutorials & Short Courses
These are essentially the contents of the Sun press line of books.
Don't blame me, I voted for Flyborg #2.

Unfortunately, it seems that the natural resource profile of Afghanistan breaks down like this:
* 70% dirt
* 10% rock
* 8% rubble
* 5% land mines
* 5% unexploded ordinance
* 2% flaming automobile hulls
Fortunately, they have the market cornered on:
* 100% newly liberated country which can provide pipeline access between caspian and arabian seas
