  1. Re:Copy Protection Only Hurts Paying Customers on Games X Copy Stirs Backup Controversy · · Score: 1

Although Blizzard still puts stupid CD checks on all their games they do add value to the game with Battle.net. Although it requires they maintain the service, it's really quite brilliant. Pirate the game all you want but you're going to have trouble getting on to B-net without a version of the game which you purchased. Not to mention they also keep releasing patches and reinventing games two years after they've been released (ie 1.10 patch for Diablo 2 reinvented the game).

Blizzard is a good company they tend to treat the customer as a customer and not some stingy pirate ... hell I remember back with WarCraft 2 when the Kali online gaming community kept petitioning them to truly randomize starting locations so as to make the game more intriguing. At the time it was a small community but they headed our words. And no I don't work for blizzard even though this sounds like a promo ... just trying to say they're not all bad.

Maybe linquists and logicians see things differently because in the world of logic (Save Hegelian logic but they'd still be almost equivalent) a double negation can be removed with no affect on the truth value of the statement ie without changing it. Hegel would say the statement has changed but it's still the same, hard to explain easier to use a diagram. I'm not saying you're wrong, just offering my understanding from the perspective of logic on the topic, plus I skipped a lot of my Symbollic Logic classes so I could be wrong :)

I'm sure this all was impart due to my choice to attempt to become a craftsperson but damn did I ever get bored. Oh well just my two cents.

The original GTA's were not about the Graphics at all, they were all about the game play. It's a top down view of the city and you basically just drive around attempting to complete missions and running the monks over for lots of extra money. The bikes go really fast but are impossible to handle, the tanks run everything over and make everything blow up. All the weapons are basically the same, what this game brings is sass. It's worth the time to play and honestly I enjoy playing it far more than I enjoy playing GTA3/VC

Another element that needs to be taken into account is that the rigorous academic system in India produces minds that are amazingly capable of handling concrete issues but with abstraction there tends to be a bit of a break down (Difference in focus in the US's education system vs India's). The reason tech jobs and programming jobs are going to India is because they are so proficient at the concrete, but I do not believe that is enough to make them the most powerful nation in 100 years.

Tekkan Tag was my all time favorite, the switching between players allowed for some sick moves plus the movement and gameplay was very fluid. The newest MK for the XBox (no clue what number they're on these days) is too slow to react and feels clunky to me ... at least in comparison to Tekkan's. (Sorry if it's Tekken I always forget) :)

I am not a Tom Cruise fan, I think he's overrated but I was able to watch the movie and not believe that it was "just Top Gun set in the 1870's". The costumes and the cinematography were both amazing. The story was engaging and interesting, and it even gives you a bit of a glimpse into a culture that is foreign from modern american culture.

That's fair, I was not clear enough in what I meant. Our definition of right and wrong is derived from our mythologies, predating any religions of the book there is the Epic of Gilgamesh where the bar is set for ancient people. The Jewish religion starts the religions of the Book (Judaism was a polythestic religion back in the day) and the Tanak became the standard. Our mythology and violence in cultures are in fact linked, but to blame the judeo-christian religions for all violence was stupid on my part.

You live by what your mythology tells you, why don't you sit down and really READ the bible. The Tanak, Bible and Quran are responible for all the violence we see in the world, sit down and have a serious read of these texts. This is not a God I would want to worship. God is vengeful, juvenile and at times quite arbitrary. Oh wait, I forgot, people don't like to think for themeselves.

The idea that marriage at the civil level should be considered sacramental is ludicrious. You have every right to feel that way about your own marriage but this issue has to do with things like benefits. Why should a gay man or a lesbian woman be denied benefits for their partner when their straight coworkers are not?

And please, no use of religious texts to prove your point because they are in my mind a waste of time because they breed violence and hatred. Oh and if you disagree, why don't you look around.

I think you raise some very valid points, the American Ethos is very egocentric, there is not the same emphasis placed on the group as on the individual. Eastern philosophy and religion is a proponent of one's "duty" and "fulfilling one's role". It's a very interesting medium to see the contrast in.

Another thing, about buying things on ebay many of these people have more time than money so its worth it to them to have the item. Let's say you're making 250k a year doing some job but you have to work 60 hours a week, yet you like to be a badass in whatever you do (probably for some deficiencies or insecurities but that's not the point) and you play everquest a lot. You want the best gear but you don't have the time to commit to getting the best gear but you do have the money, it's simple economics and doesn't surprise me one bit. Besides, it's good for the gaming community, if Sony had a brain they'd condone it because otherwise they'd probably lose more customers who don't have the time to invest in the world.
