    Churches have been using gaming parties for youth events and evangelical drives for decades now. Usually one person in the leadership owns an up-to-date games console and brings it along to friday night events. It used to be Space Invaders, then Mario, then Sonic, then Gran Turismo and so on.

    Halo 3 is nothing special in this regard, except for the unwarranted media attention it's been given. My God, it's like the Wii all over again.

    2) It provides little or no functionality that consumers actually want over XP.

    DX10 may be a killer there, unless it's backported to XP. Crysis is due out soon and there's a lot of effects in it that just won't work with DX9.

    This pretty much guarantees an imminent mass migration of gamers which will push up demand for Vista applications. This may or may be large enough to lead to other sectors taking the plunge.

    I view these systems as similar to routing all of your snail mail through a third party that opens it, analyzes it, delivers it.

    I would have said: opens it, analyzes it, and reads it to you over the phone.

    mbox is a nightmare for incremental backups.

    User J has received thirty messages today in his 5GB inbox, twenty of which get filed into his large Mailing List folders. Oh well we need to back up the whole lot *again*. Likewise for the other three hundred users.

    And as another poster stated, if your mbox file gets corrupted, it's a lot harder to fix.

    Yes it does show that, doesn't it. Now for extra points, QuantumG, tell me why this useless area is there, and why whatever bizarre mutation caused its presence apparently hasn't atrophied. Surely you don't believe that people with this mutation are going to be more likely to breed that those without it?

    Then again, given the disproportionately high rate of geek atheists, perhaps there is a correlation between people who can't sense God and people who won't reproduce.

    Where I live even if a kid is lucky enough to still have two guardians in the same house, those guardians have had the power to make decisions over the kids life pretty much removed by a PC nanny government. Anything that might make the kid less than ecstatic is seen as child abuse, and the guardian risks a visit from a government-endorsed posse of kidnappers dubbed Child, Youth and Family Support.
