Why don't the people who post stories add appropriatehyperlinks to websites such as wikipedia at the time of posting? That would seem to solve the whole problem.
On a somewhat related note, I've found this website to be invaluable when dealing with avalanches of acronyms.
I remember seeing that survey, or online poll or whatever a few months ago too.
I think that people (willfully) misinterpret that result. That poll in no way implied that 'Daily Show' viewers (myself included) were more knowledgeable on current events *because* they watched DS. Although there's no way for me to know, I suspect that the opposite is what's really happening. In order to apperciate the humor in the show, the viewer has to be informed of current events. So, the group is self selecting.
Speaking as someone who has a degree in biochemistry and chemical engineering I take issue with this statement. Biochemists are 'usually' interested in single pieces, or small sections of the whole; while engineers are more focused on systems and applications. Over the next deacade, I think there will be need for both approaches.
MIT's not alone in looking into biological engineering, either. SUNY at Buffalo's chemical engineering department changed its name to 'chemical and biological' engineering last year. While there haven't been any curriculum changes yet, I'm told that they'll start arriving once folks get a handle on what a biological engineering curriculum should look like.
It seems like the only people who would need to not be photographed are going to be causing trouble.
Some people practice a religion that proscribes the taking of or posing for photographs. Also, a number of states have enacted legislation that demands a compelling societal interest before infringing a groups or individuals religous freedom. This legislation has been used to compell states to issue drivers licenses without photos, I cannot see why identifying kiosk customers is more compelling than postively identifying the driver of a motor vehicle. Here's a link to page describing this very issue
People need to remember that radio stations are in the business of delivering listeners to advertisers, not music to listeners.*
I gladly shelled out for Sirius service when it became available. To my mind, it seems preferable to pay my music provider directly and have them worry about my happiness rather than some advertisers.
Reducing or eliminating CO2 emissions ought to be a prime goal of world energy policy.
Especially since there's an outside chance that the atmosphereic CO2 levels could get worse a lot faster than anticipated. Climatologists are just now getting hip to the fact that the Earth's oceans are acting as giant carbon dioxide sinks by the exact same mechanism we remove CO2 from our blood streams.
This mechanism is an equilibrium between CO2 (gaseus) and carbonic acid (liquid). A shift in the pH of the oceans may indicate that the ability of them to soak up 'excess' carbon dioxide is nearly exceeded. Which would cause CO2 to just build up in the atmosphere. This would cause a dramatic increase in atmospheric CO2 almost regardless of policy decisions made by us (short of not emmitting any more CO2 at all!). Not to mention the marine life that would be deleteriously effected by a shift in pH long before.
Great ideas are great and all, but they still need *really* great execution to fly. ~ria~
Of course, It's 40 bucks plus a firewire camera. and not $0.3.
Seriously, how long before astro-headhunters prowl the halls at NASA facilities?

That must be Eat 'n Park's customer service strategy. (from my limited experience)
Well, as a 12" PB user, I just monitor my left wrist for minor burns.

Sooner or later, somone's gonna start selling fashionable foil lined wallets and purses.
Dennis Miller, is that you?
Did anyone else think that maybe we just saw the end of a Disaster Area Concert from the back row?

Should an 18 or 19 year old university freshman be able to properly select the approprate courses?

They always ask me to turn on my laptop. Like a determined bomd maker couldn't put a bomb in a laptop without breaking it.
What you need is Audiohijack. (assuming you're using OS X)

Obviously the answer is to leave +0 funny alone and add a -1 cliche moderation.
(This was also a riddle on Car Talk)
If so, will we call them 'looney (i)Tunes'?
