I really screwed up... I accidentally hit the submit button instead of the preview button. Oops... anyway, that link is almost valid.

What my point was... if you consider that the reduction in yield is only a couple of percent for ogranic growing and you then subtract the costs of pesticides and herbicides then you probably get back to the same profitability. And, eventually as the supply of produce reduces by 2%, then the market will improve for farmers and they will see their profit margin rise again.

It is really a win/win situation, but too many people have their lives invested and don't want to "bet the farm" on a gamble like organic. (Pun intended)

  14. AotC Sucked on The Empire Stumbles · · Score: 1

I don't care what any fanboy says. The first hour of AotC had horrible writing/acting and the second half had no plot but was "action packed"... so I would have to give AotC a 30% entertainment value for lack of any good acting but +5% for Yoda's Kick-ass scene.

Sitting through AotC was bad the first time but suicide educing the second (I assume). But I was thrilled and entertained throughout from Spiderman the second time I saw it.

It has nothing to do with different tastes of different generations... but has everything to do with the quality of each movie.

You are right. Sept. 11 would have happened but W is taking advantage of his "mental immunity" for everybody trying to be patriotic and so nobody is questioning his policies or politics (Iraq, Enron) when they very well should be scrutinized. But worse yet, it isn't just Bush that is doing this. Congress, RIAA, MPAA, and Microsoft are all using the terrorist attacks as shields of their messed up policies. Everybody is pushing for copyright laws and pro-DMCA because "terrorists" are the ones who crack programs. Also, according to Microsoft, the anti-trust case is taking resources away from the investigation of the attacks. Of course this is all bogus, but nobody of power and influence is saying anything because then the Republicans will label them as anti-American.

Hopefully, this phase of trust in our government will pass and we can get back to criticizing them when they do something stupid.

  17. Re:Wake up Call? on UK to get Public Wireless LAN · · Score: 2, Informative

This isn't really feasable in the U.S. Our country has too small of a population density to make this really worthwhile on a federal government scale. The only way that I could see this happening in the U.S. is if each city paid for the wireless network then the Federal Government footed the bill for backbone access. Thus splitting the costs between local and national levels and making it affordable to each party involved.

  18. Review of Mozilla vs. IE on Mozilla RC3 Released · · Score: 2, Interesting

On Windows boxes, I have noticed that since the RC2 Release Mozilla has become much faster than IE in every category except Jave applets. Even then the difference is minimal.

Another problem with Mozilla that was cleared up since RC2 is plug-in support. Flash and Java were both working perfectly with little hassle (no more hassle than IE) in RC3.

I think I found my new favorite browser. I was very sceptical about Mozilla being able to out-do IE but it happened, and it happened with an eye on security too.

    Good going Mozilla crew.
