"Um, hello? It only varies upward as a result of OT."
It can only vary upwards as a result of *adding* OT. What about taking it away--plenty of hourly places use a few consistent hours of OT to balance out the fact that the base pay rate is marginal. Suppose that company has just realized that they can't find their asses with both hands and a map, and are hemorrhaging money.
First thing to go is overtime, as much of it as possible, which means your paycheck is probably going down and staying there. I don't think that sort of scenario is all that uncommon (but I could be wrong)
Having to deal with crap like that is why I am truly glad to be salaried. Getting paid for working past 40 would be great, but it goes both ways.
I definitely understand what you're saying, and usually I would be all over the "not my land, not my business" idea, except that in a neighborhood what your neighbor is doing definitely can affect you in terms of your property value going down or otherwise becoming undesirable.
This is certainly largely a matter of perspective; an eyesore for one man could be a convenience to another, so it's certainly valid to discount it entirely, I just wanted to point out more clearly part of the angle I was going for.
Sounds like you got lucky. I'd love to live next to a grocery store, personally.
It's really a matter of perspective: what if your neighbor decided to start a junkyard (excuse me, auto salvage business) instead? Is that affecting you yet (I'd say yes, but YMMV)
There are definitely similar problems in the States.
Big hog farms produce a tremendous amount of waste concentrated into relatively small areas (sludge ponds or fields) that are prone to contaminating the surroundings if they overflow or leak.
Maybe it's not widespread, but it's a growing issue in my home state (north carolina) and I would guess others where hogs are prevalent.
Likely you will have to do just as currently with butane lighters: purchase an approved container (big gasket sealed foam padded screw-together heavy plastic job) and put it in there, and put it in your checked luggage.
While I agree that regardless of the separation between the parties, in a two party system it is always "us versus them", I could be wrong but I read Original Replica's post as implying that if parties were further apart ideologically, "us" might be more often chosen based on what party you actually AGREE with the most, rather than aligning yourself with whichever party fits your local/family/religious ties or personal opinion.
What if one judge thinks maneuver X is more or less difficult than another judge? What if one judge doesn't notice an error or think it is more or less severe?
If it were as consistent as you make it out to be, the judges would never post dissenting scores...
The labs in the engineering building where I attended had all the cases strung with a cable that was linked to an alarm. Try to dick with the case and through some mechanism the alarm was triggered and EVERYONE knew.
Seems like that could easily be extended to cover manipulating the cables as well.
Forgoing mod points in this discussion to clarify:
As many people have stated so far, the fear is that if putting false information into any online service qualifies as a felony, then that means any TOS violation = unauthorized access = omg hacking. Violate TOS in your favorite MMO? Felony. Put 867-5309 as your phone number when signing up for something online? False info = TOS violation = felony.
That is a pretty damn broad reaching precedent especially in cases where no party is actually being harmed.
An "eastern" MMO is one e.g., Lineage 2 that is based entirely on immense amounts of grinding both to advance your character and get items in order to get ANYWHERE in the game.
Yes, WOW involves grinding later on in the game, but a lot of advancement can be had via questing and instances. Lineage 2, last time i checked, had you frequently sitting in a field killing the same things by the hundred for in game currency or items.
that seems like a pretty loose instruction. Could it be grounds for mistrial because people have been shown to make decisions based on their feelings ("their own values") rather than the facts presented to them?
In this day and age I don't know that I think the judgment of the average person counts for much, especially in a legal sense, without some guidance. Doubly so in a technology related case.
The real problem as I see it is that they're inviting the comparison themselves. From model design to interface to icons they're making design choices that will make people think "oh hey they pulled that out of WoW"
Personally, I don't care for that. Yes WOW was good (IMO) but incorporating lots of elements from it into the next good game just lessens the distinction (stylistically and play-wise) of the new game.
There seem to be plenty of projects in which the dev team implement "features" that they themselves consider the end of the world in terms of Awesome, despite criticism from the user base. Case and point, see the Pidgin fork. Telling the users that you know best what they want is the height of ego masturbation and arrogance.
Both your "rights" to fly are precisely zero don't forget. Using the services of the airlines is a privilege.
(Not implying that this is what you do, but:) What I don't understand is why anyone would, knowing their child doesn't handle event X well (be it flying, or ANYTHING) and is prone to cry, still persist on pulling the kid into that situation.
The homeowners are claiming vague damages from "mental stress" --surely it should be their task to prove that rather than Google's to disprove it.
As far as I can tell Google has acted relatively responsibly--according to your own post they have taken the imagery down, after apparently one of their photography teams made an honest mistake and went where they shouldn't.
Saying "well they shouldn't have done it to start with" is fine and all, but ultimately unreasonable, until we're all replaced by robots, which never make mistakes.
But apparently it's only "shared" and "semipublic" because an arbitrary number of people ignore the signage stating otherwise, or am I missing something?
That's (at least to some extent) a matter of convenience is it not?
I'm not up to date on modern consoles so I have no idea if it's feasible or not to pirate Wii/360/PS3 games.
High speed broadband counts as "basic" anymore? What a society we live in.

Thanks for the response :)

It always makes me smile to find that someone thinks they can pawn your old Okidata dot matrix printer/floppy collection/monochrome monitor
Good lord yes. I had a KT133 mobo courtesy of Asus (I think) and after that it was many a year before I bought Via again.
The whole idea of their "4 in 1" drivers were a nightmare, with some versions having bugs but being (in other respects) better performers, etc.

And you got through the metal detectors how exactly?

sand is (almost always, AFAIK) a silicon compound, not aluminum...
You wear gloves when you handle forks do you?

It was only a joke officer, honest. Well, mostly a joke.

Not everybody who has email also has web access.
Such as...?
