Good point. The "techie" crowd around here (meaning me and several of my close friends) listen to largely underground or unknown stuff we find on P2P programs and buy CDs of more well known bands. It's the whining snotty highschool sophomores whos mother bought them a CD burner who BRAG out loud (as if it scores them points with girls!) about how many CDs they burned from their older brother's mp3 collection and about how long its been since they had mom buy them a CD, those are the types that hurt sales. They dont want to "Try before you buy" they want everything for free.
Flops aren't everything. Until the SETI@home network has the bandwith that the Earth Sim has between processors (someone said 1Tb/sec?) until then one supercomputer will have it beat for anything that requires data to be compared (has this chunk of data been processed by one of the other 4999 processors yet?)
I love it, all you guys saying that copying CDs without paying is not theft. You are getting use or value from something which is not free to use, but which you have also not paid for. That is theft, albeit of a different color. The fact that your copying does not deprive anyone else of the same music is irrelevant
Wally world in theory doesnt accept returns, but a friend of mine returned MOH:AA because when he got it he found the box had been opened and the CD stolen from inside the jewel case (no shit about this, i watched him open it) and they took it back without a single questions and got him another copy
The USA is simply the biggest target. suppose for a moment the terrorists suceeded, and the US topples or something, then there is a #2 on the list, that will become their next capitalist pig target of the year...sooner or later they will get to switzerland.
So, by their defintion of Pronation, we should never ever turn our palms downward, because this causes problems. I'm sorry, but I think if that was half as harmful as they made it out to be, then humans wouldn't have the capacity to do it, or else problems would be more widespread.
I tried achieving the position they show for the pronation display, and i had to put my elbows on the table touching each other before i could get my hands to rotate like that. granded that might be harmful, but the fact that the other two joints in your arm rotate a bit makes it like their points are rather contrived.
Deviation might be a more legitimate concern, but looking at my own wrists it still seems as if they are exaggerating purposefully
this is primarily for games such as CS, MOHAA and Diablo II, but periodically the server could ask the client if it can "see" player X. suppose player X is behind a wall, or if player X is really an object far far away. if the client responds that yes it can indeed see player X, then the server knows that client is employing some sort of exploit and can act accordingly
of course, this relies on your client being 'dumb' to a good part of the game, tracking things and whatnot, but i'm not sure of all the techinical stuff
I'd love to know for sure, because i know of several people my own age like that. I personally think its the last resort of a personality completely devoid of redeeming favors to find somethhing s/he is good at
I think the solution would be the release of a program that functions somewhat like an antivirus software, that must be run in order to play public games (I'm thinking public CS servers, MMORPGs, etc) that scan for hacks, cheat programs or exploits. Sure, sure, bitch all you want about your precious privacy, but how many people cry about the fact that Norton AV scans their harddrive? not many. And yes, the cheaters, the dedicated ones, would figure out how to make their stuff harder to detect, but with regular updates, it shouldnt matter. I for one would be only too happy to let a program from a reputable game company scan my memory and perhaps my hdd to see if there are cheats, knowing that the idiots (must resist impulse to cal them '12 year old morons') who get their kicks out of breaking rules and screwing people are not going to be interfering with me.
Ideally, in games like CS or MOHAA, where an individual runs the server, it could be their option to implement this...if all the cheaters wanna play a game together where everyone can get headshots and see through walls, fine by me, but stay out of my game.
One down, 300 million to go. Maybe next they'll go after this pesky den of pirates I've use-er,heard of called IRC, or this really shady place called Usenet
Assuming he gets paid for designing websites, guess what? The guy that pays him 95% for sure uses IE, and if it doesn't work on IE and work well, and look right, he doesn't get a paycheck or a happy customer that comes back. Be idealistic all you like, but when it comes down to the line, i daresay most of the people who are paid for such things would rather it look right on IE than close-(but no cigar) on anything else
IANAEngineer, but how do you get around the arched design causing part of the solar cells to be shadowed during certain parts of the day? Or can you?
Either way, it looks pretty cool, and what seems to be more interesting/potentially useful is the LED lighting and water filtration...can anyone provide some more info on how the chlorine-free filtration works?
But, in two years, your supply of new games will possibly slow to a trickle as the Console Gods want you to buy their Super X-cube Entertainment System XP
Well, giving him a slap on the wrist and having his father pay a pitiful fine will surely snap some sense into the boy wont it?

stop feeding him and stop paying for his internet connection. it's amazing how fast they'll start working if they are threatened with the loss of these two.
-Simple. Have senior officials "plant" 10 or 12 people into the datasource the scanner is using, and for every person that generates a match by the machine, that the sec team dont pay extra attention to, chop a bit off their bonus
Dude, a teenage Palistinian girl did blow herself up you know..
Last time I checked, Apaches have a 20mm vulcan cannon, its the A-10s that have the big 30.
You forgot wardialing...

IANAL, but sorta sounds like fraud...or entrapment, or something

I'd probably say it "Net-thics"

I hope they make that 100Tb drive i'll need in five years a fast SOB, otherwise i'll have to wait till I'll be gone for a week or two to reformat it
