    I wouldnt have even posted mine if i had seen that someone had done the exact same basic thing quicker than i did, while I hunt and pecked my link in for the pic.

    His is far funnier than mine, it's got that urban flair that compliments the point we both hit upon. I wouldn't have been surprised to end up modded to redundant and him to +4 or 5 funny, but ya never can tell what's gonna happen i guess.

    how do you think ABC's new show Push, Nevada will do next season?

    Personally i expect it to be a huge hit. A mystery show where viewers also can try to solve the mystery on the internet, first person who figures out where the cash they are looking for in the show is at gets it.

    i don't even watch much prime-time network television and i'm looking forward to seeing how this show turns out (though the longshot prospect of a load of cash may have a lot to do with that), just seems like an intersting idea to me.

    how many people will really want their bandwidth getting chewed up by a console that they are not playing, so that others can play? especially with all the talk of providers going to a capped model that allows you to transfer X number of gigs per month before incurring additional fees.

    personally if they could even make the sucker work, i would just yank the cat-5 out of the thing whenever im not playing

    man i tried to get the non cached version of the article for about 5 minutes before i gave up on it, darn thing just refused to load for me for some reason, glad ya found it.

    as to why i choose that particular page, it was just the portion that applied most directly to my point really.

    Companies like Griffin have contracts with restaurants to come around regularly and pick up their grease. From Griffin's point of view, the grease is theirs the minute it enters the container.


    So i'd definitely think it would be wise to at least ask the restaraunt you wanna fill up at before doing so.

    At least it's not very likely.

    If you listen to the May 22'nd broadcast of the Diane Rehm show (crappy RM format though), the recording industry's representative makes it very clear that the rates agreed upon will only be used as a base... and that they will be happy to lower rates (even possibly to nothing besides ASCAP/BMI)... for the webcasters who play the music they like, and want promoted.

    I'm sure CCU will get a sweetheart deal, and it wont really take a suspicious looking law to do it, just a lil handhsake with Rosen.

    When the lab's director says that "basic verifications"..."were not followed", i feel pretty safe in saying they "obviously neglected to verify his claims" (at least for a good while)

    Well considering that much of the problem is not just the one physicists bogus claims, but the fact that the rest of the people involved at the laboratory obviously neglected to verify his claims...

    I mean, you can read endless boycott the MPAA rants here on a regular basis, yet when Star Wars, Spidey, LOTR, etc come out you can also read these same people's takes on the plot twists, and how good they are.

    I'm sure there are a few hardcore people who stand behind the principle of thoose boycotts they propose... but even here where most people are far more involved with their views about the **AA than is mainstream, i doubt a huge difference is actually made.

    Personally i just do as you do, i saw SW-EP2 in the theatre, i have a pre-ordered copy of LOTR DVD at Amazon which will ship in August, same with the new Dave Matthews CD pre-order.

    I despise the crazy bills that the **AA trys to get passed to inhibit our abilities to use a computer as we see fit, yet I still purchase the rare bits of appealing (too me, at least if you just wanna reply to criticize my tastes thats fine, but frankly i may think the same about your taste if so) stuff they put out.

    And I know i'm not alone, when there is something out there I want... I get it. I'm no Gandhi, I will not starve myself (so to speak) to make a point, guess i'm just weak, but so be it.

    Of course this has uses on some levels. Will a bank of PS2's ever be the backbone of EBAY, NO. But it can be a useful hobby/ learning tool for someone who happens to already own a PS2 and not a computer.


    but for the cost of Sony's Linux kit and a PS2, you could certainly have much more computing power than a 300 MHZ processor if ya knew *anything* about computers...

    And if ya didnt know anything about computers, would ya be running Linux on a PS2?

    X-Box was already cracked. It didn't get much press covereage... Eweek did a story, here's the reg's:


    Well, x-box's have been online for quite some time now, many people who own one have been using gamespy software to play Halo online for a fair bit in fact.

    and as for x-box's having been cracked, the cracking you refer to is no more than the same mod-chips that allow the console to run unsigned code that dreamcasts, PS1's, and PS2-s have been running for quite a while.

    the simple fact is that, MS's controlled servers may be more secure than public servers sony will promote, in fact i would expect it to be.

    you can knock em all you like, but the model they are promoting might just be better than Sony's, why not wait till they are actually functioning, and have a bit of substance behind your complaints before you dismiss them offhandedly?

    ya it used to be how you can recognize the refferal thing, they seem to have changed it, i tested and got the same results, seems it appears full time now in their URL's and i jumped the gun in my assumption.

    anyways my opinion of the whole situation was that it ws a pretty creative way to get views if thats what he did, dont know that its what happened but i still give the guy props if he did pull that off ;)

    they hyped the cool features of the toolset to create your own worlds, is it gonna work in linux...NO

    they go gold and state that you will need the windows binaries to register and download updates... if you think you are gonna be able to do that in a linux environment i guess you are a glass half full type guy... me, well i guess you can figure out how empty my glass is ;)

    there is certainly speculation about what will be required since bioware hasnt clarified the issue yet.

    but considering that linux was supposed to be supported "out of the box" at first, and that now seems certain not to happen... who knows?

    all we know is that you will certainly need the windows CD at this point for registration, and critical data updates... you can assume that they will support said data updates in a linux environment if you like, but it surely isnt certain since nobody will know how the linux support works until a month or so after release for windows (which is far from what they said they would do long ago)
