That's still 9 years without any meaningful advancements in the gameplay.
Hmmm lets take a look at some current FPS games. We got PlanetSide which is an FPS that puts in a dynamic world full of other human players. Not only does it do that but it has many fundamentally different innovations in it that are really cool: RPG elements, the ability to fly aircraft, drive tanks, lead teammates. And this is all in one game. And this isn't fundmentally different?? Wtf dude. Any more "fundamental" changes and it will no longer be considered an FPS. You could say that Planetside doesn't do a very good job of many of these things, but it's still a hell of alot different than quake. Hell, Planetside isn't even that current.
Now lets look at Half-Life 2. Yeah saying that nothing has changed but the graphics will get you the mod points here on/. However, just the physics of this game alone as dramitcally altered the gameplay. You no longer have to point and shoot to kill your enemies, as you had to with Quake. There are so many fun and different ways to kill enemies in that game. Not to mention the many puzzles that involved the physics. Then theres also the ability to lead a team of NPC's to help you out. Many games do this such as Call of Duty and Battlezone. Totally adds a new dimension of gameplay IMHO. Then the AI has made such an improvement, that you can actually get the felling that you are outsmarting your enemies. Enemies in Quake where quite omniescient and predictable. I could go on forever about some of the cool stuff in Half Life 2 that was non-existent in Quake, but I can only waste so much time.
I could also go on forever about cool new stuff in current FPS's (BattleField 1942, Thief, Dues Ex). But it just pisses me off that people don't recognize that there are really smart, innovative, and creative game developers out there, and there are always really cool stuff coming out in many of these games. Please give them some fucking credit.
Episode 1 was fun as hell for me. The pod race scene alone is so fun to watch, I don't mind putting up with all the crap of the rest of the movie. Also, the Darth Maul,Qui-gon jinn, obi-wan duel, IMHO, is the best lightsaber duels of all the movies. I agree in terms of the plot its not that important. But it's still fun as hell to watch.
To me the prequels are quite different than the originals. But they are still "Star Wars" at heart. I think they all do a good job of immersing the audience in a very interesting universe.
Also, just because a movie is dark doesn't mean it isn't fun. I think the dialogue between Obi Wan, Anakin, and R2 in EpIII is the most humorous and least annoying out of all the attempts at comic relief amongst the prequels.
I could be wrong but there seems to be alot of people ignoring the fact that it will probably be the games that will be the deciding factor.
I wouldn't suggest that the quality of the system will be the determining factor of it's success. I do realize, however, that if a console is created well and has more features, it's more likely to get the good games. But we will probably never see Halo on a Nintendo system and we will never see Mario or Samus in any other console.
One thing I hope for is that all the next gen systems will be similar in such a way that it will be easy for Square to make the FF's for all consoles. Also, if Grand theft auto games are still only exclusive to the PS3 (and then later ported to 360) this will make it really hard for nintendo to make a comeback. If Nintendo can come up with some really competitive games at the release of the console, I think theres a good chance of it dominating the US console race. But we will have to wait and see.
If you read the quote which is in your post. He says "If I write them down AND THEN PROTECT the piece of paper..."
For example, the company I work for has strict policies for protecting passwords. We must keep our computer passwords in locked cabinets or we will face minor to moderate penalties.
I don't think the fact that these companies decided to hire booth babes was that bad either. I think the problem is that these booth babes remind us of how there's an underlying problem with our society.
Sex sells and if you want your company to make money, than it's smart to use take advantage of this fact. But because so many companies do this, this idea of "women have to be beautiful to get what they want" is being soaked up by mainstream society. With that ideology floating around, theres a large amount of women who are becoming uncomfortable with their bodies. I think some people, who want equality between genders, don't like this.
Personally, I don't mind the booth babes either. But I would also like to see these companies hire martial artists, dress them up in some ninja garb or as whatever character that's in their game, and them have them spar. I would rather see two ninja gaiden characters beat the shit out of each other than stand next to an attractive woman. I can stand next to hot girls and get my picture taken for free at clubs with no cover charge.
If you guys like final fantasy music or any other kinda of music from video games, http://www.ocremix.org/ has alot arrangements of different video games tunes. Don't let the name fool you, it's not filled with those lame techno remixes, it's done by tons of different people with too much time on their hands. Some kinda suck, but some of the remixes are done very well. It's worth a look, imo.

That is some stupid logic by whoever put up the money. The only people who are gonna be interested in this movie are gamers. By changing the setting to something that has nothing to do with the game, is gonna take away any appeal to their biggest potential of ticket sales. Now instead of middle america not wanting to see the movie, no one will want to see it.

What the fuck!?!? I didn't even know there was a Starship troopers 2. When was this released? That's sad that even I don't know this, and I'm a pretty big sci-fi fan.
Understatement of the day. Unless you made a typo. You were playing Halo2 (which nerds refer to as H2), not HL2, which is Half-life 2. Again sorry if you just made a typo, but my nerdyness is forcing me to call you out on that.
I am so upset about how Valve treated me. I had to wait a full 15 minutes to be able to play the game. I DEMAND MY MONEY BACK!!! And just think of those poor poor people who had to wait a full 2 hours to be able to play the game. This is a travesty. Don't let the rave reviews fool you, or Valve's quick response in terms of patching small bugs in the game. I am going to sue valve now.
Is anyone else surprised that FFXI is kicking so much ass in terms of subscriptions? I've played for a while, but it got REAL hard level up and I just lost interest. I'm guessing that it's probably because it's still popular in Japan and that you can play cross platform (PS2/PC). It will be interesting to see if FFXI's subscriptions will take a hit after EQ2, and WoW start bringing in the masses. Speaking of which, I need to cancel my FFXI subscription, I haven't played in 8 months.
Yes it would only take about 12 hours in this shitty weather (it's snowing) and cost 30$ in gas. Jeez I'm such a lazy asshole. What am I thinking! Let me just screw my poli sci test I have tomorrow and my soccer game and drive over there right now so that my one vote out out of hundreds of thousands can be counted.
Ummm alright lets look at the last 100 years!
1900's we were a nation full of immigrants who were extremely poor and looking for jobs. Women weren't allowed to vote. Black people weren't allowed to use the same facilities/services as white people. Our economy was extremely unstable. Crime and pollution were huge problems.
Now lets look what we have at the present. Hmmmmm.... yeah you're right our government has done and EXTREMELY SHITTY JOB! Please. No government is perfect. And all of this countries problems won't just suddenly dissapear if we have more choices to vote for. The thing is that we have alot MORE problems than usual with Bush as our president. That's why the best thing we can do for this country is to get him out of power. Once this happens than we can start talking about trying to getting more parties a fighting chance.
How do you know you aren't voting for more the of the same when a 3rd party has a snowball's chance in hell of winning a presedential election? The reason these parties have so much power is because they lie, cater towards interests groups, and are extremely vicious towards their opponents. Do you seriously think a 3rd party would be any different?
I am currently attending Texas Tech Universitiy which is located in Lubbock. It's about a 5 hour drive east of my hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Some time in mid October I called in and requested an absentee ballot from the elections office in Santa Fe. I gave them my address info and they told me they would send the ballot right away. A week passed and nothing in the mail. I called my parents and they told me that other people had to wait a while for thiers too. I guess they had trouble keeping up with so many requests. So I decided to wait one more week. Still no ballot. I called them up saying basically "wtf, where's my ballot." The lady took said she would get some one to call me back on it. I gave her my phone number. Three days later it's too late to even mail in my ballot and they never called me. So all I can do now is sit around and hope Kerry gets elected. If not I'm gonna be pissed. My state has had a record of having problems with election counts. I wonder if it has anything to that New Mexico's public schools are the ranked at the most inadequate schools in the nation.
Yes. The more votes third parties get, the more exposure they will get, and eventually meaningful change will happen.
Ah I now see what you're saying. Even though there will be no meaningful change this election (who cares that this probably one of the most important elections in quite a while), voting 3rd party MIGHT produce a 3rd party candidate who MIGHT be a slightly better choice than the 2 parties in power 20 years down the road. Sorry man, maybe you think it's worth risking it. But I don't think this country can take another 4 more years of Bush. I'm down with having more and better choices to choose for the presidency. You can say that Kerry supported the war all you want. But you know damn well he wouldn't have made the same irrational decisions Bush had and created this mess we are in now.
Right...voting for some one who essentially has no chance of winning will definately cause a meaningful change...you're joking right?
Just because republicans say Kerry supported the war doesn't make it true. Yes, he did vote to give the president power to make the decision. But does this mean Kerry would have done the same thing and put us in a middle of a big mess? Hell no. He probably won't in the future either. And I hope you realize pretty much every congress member "supported the war" in Iraq, except for a few. This is partly because republicans did a great job of labeling people as "unpatriotic" if they didn't support the war. A lot of senators didn't want to take the chance of losing their popularity in order to go against the grain (unfortunately).
He probably does. He probably also realizes that the media is so out of hand right now that other news shows won't be taken much more seriously than his 'Fake News'.

Well I can understand your view on this because I also prefer PC over console when it comes to FPS's. When I first started out playing HALO and SOCOM on those gamepads I could not understand how people could aim. It took me like 20 seconds just to get my crosshair pointed where I wanted it to. But being the stubborn person I am, I kept playing and tried to get good, and my thumbs and wrists got sore. After a while I've become quite proficient at aiming using the controllers. The main thing that lures me to play FPS's on consoles is the social aspect. It's much more fun to watch your friend get pissed off as he falls down a bottomless pit than just seeing someone type "wtf".
