  1. Maybe a Valve Cybercafé solution? on The Evolution of Multiplayer Games and Online Play · · Score: 1

Maybe they'll do the same thing that Valve does with their Valve Cybercafé program. Would probably be too expensive for small meetups. But would be fine for gaming events, tournaments, and Korean players (that mostly play at gaming centers anyway).

  10. Re:Too much cutting edge stuff on Sony Denies PS3 Delay · · Score: 1

Funny, I have about an equal amount of Xbox and PS2 games (20ish or so), and I do like both consoles. But if I limited myself to the games you mentioned for either system I'd be a very sad camper. Halo is good, Ninja Gaiden I could care less. Not to mention all the games you didn't mention. And for PS2, not a one of those games did I enjoy (to be honest though I haven't tried Colossus, but I've heard it's very good). I realize you're trying to bash the Xbox library, but honestly you didn't do a good job of promoting the PS2's library either.

  11. Re:troll on 360 Sales Slow, Chip Blamed For Issues · · Score: 1

It's not the quality of the games, it's the perception of the games which counts. 360 has had the second best lineup I can remember (best being the Dreamcast). But that didn't work for the Dreamcast either. As the PSP, DS, and PS2 have proven, even if you don't have quality games as long as there's a perception that someday you will consumers will still go for it. In some cases that turned out to be true, certainly for DS. As well as PS2 (though to me it still pales to the DC and original Xbox). Remains to be seen with the PSP.

MSIE has been dead for years, and WMP didn't look much better. They were both free products which had significantly better alternatives on OSX. Office isn't the same. It's profitable and it really has no legitimate competitors on OSX. This isn't really newsworthy not sure why it got on the frontpage.

People who like western style rpgs are generally bored with the whack-a-mole crap interspersed with nonsensical cutscenes which fails miserably at bringing even a modicum of cohesion into their ridiculous plots which is found in Japanese rpgs, that's all. Umm, have you played WoW? I mean seriously. They're trying to implement features to make it play like an action game. That's not WoW, WoW is as turn-based as EQ. WoW is not a fast action game as he describes it. WoW is just autoattack with timered abilities (same as EQ- autoattack and spells, or any other MMO to date). Hit auto, punch some macros, loot. The only thing that was mentioned that was WoW-like were they were trying to reduce downtime.

I've heard they were going to put Pandarens in, but they were removed from the game because the Chinese government wouldn't allow Blizz to sell the product in China. Has to do with some law in China about it being illegal to kill pandas. Sounds farfetched, but part of me wonders what would happen in this country if someone did a remake of Duck Hunt and called it Bald Eagle Hunt. Everyone's second guess seems to be speculative (Draenei are mentioned a lot though).

  25. Re:Wait wait, what the hell? on 1/5 of All Human Genes Have Been Patented · · Score: 1

Someone will probably correct me on the specifics, but yes. This all started in about 1980 when a company tried to patent a bacteria. The patent office originally refused the patent stating that it was clearly in their own rules that they couldn't grant patents to living organisms. The company decided to take the patent office to court. It went to the SCOTUS and they agreed with the company forcing the patent office to grant them a patent. So yeah, this is nothing new. Repugnant all the same though.
