So now you can speak for Jesus? Jesus was anti-religious and anti-political. He aledgedly taught against the Church. Of course, people turn around and make his teachings and collections of stories into a "religion." *shakes head* Paul obviously had problems with his mother, since he put down women so much. He also felt the need to "one-up" those who he correspondence with. I suspect this is the reason we get a "supernatural" response from his writtings. The Disciples were just drinkin' buddies for the most part, but they also helped conspire against the Church of the time. Moses was wise, but I'm going to guess not the most sane person either.
Many of the writtings int the Torah and Bible were written well after the events supposedly took place; as much as 500 year or more. Many of the stories are rip-offs from prior religions, redressed to fit the Church's agenda.
These are but a few reasons I quit the Christian system of behaviour. The lies, blood, and idiocracy the representatives of Christianity have brought about makes me sick. Many people can ignore these atrocities, I will not.
They'll say this because they want you to BUY an Enterprise support license for use in Business. Otherwise, if you don't need the extra support, I see no reason to buy a license.
I can't wait for the private sector comes up with a reusable space craft that's more fuel and cost efficient than anything NASA can come up with. There seems to be too much red-tape and not enough budget for NASA to be able to do anything significant anymore.
That aside, I remember watching the first televised shuttle launch. I held my breath when it took off, and then watched in awe as it landed some week or two later. It was a sense of something great. It's a pretty good bet I most likely won't feel the same about these new rockets. It feels too much of 4 steps back to me....
Gates did not "create" FAT, he "embraced and extended" it. Basically, he took a FAT12 system already implemented in Tim Paterson's QDOS, and extended it to FAT16, VFAT, LFNs, and finally FAT32, before dumping it for NTFS. My Reference. So he did not "create" the FAT file system.:P
I whole heartedly agree! I remember getting into fights at school, getting swats at school, then getting the belt when I got home, even if I didn't start it. I'm with you. My children (when I have some) will learn that defending ones self is not bad. Also, I will give them the tools so they can decide for themselves what would be harmful for them. Shielding them away from the world is not the answer. Teaching them and giving them the tools and knowledge they need to survive in this world should be what matters.
For everyone who thinks that keeping their children under lock and key, in a box, in a closet is going to jack crap for your kids, think again. Many children who grow up in oppressive homes tend to have no street smarts, and tend to generally go wild. This is a common backfire effect, which is just as dangerous, if not more since they are usually adult status when this all happens. Teaching common sense these days seems like a lost art....
I don't get it.... Why would anyone use AIM? It's limited in so many ways. You can't leave offline messages. You can't transfer files reliably. You get very little extra functionality and plugin support. No voice or cam functionality either. WTF?
On the other hand, it's simple to use without all the crap that comes with MSN and YIM. But I highly suggest, if simple is what you and your friends want, use GTalk. Get your friends to at least try it and I'll be they might even like it. One easy way to get them to try it is to send each of them a Gmail invite.;)
Me? I've pretty much quit using IM services, save GTalk. The client is simple, fast, easy to learn, has decent voice support, and is going to grow. I have no doubts that Google will make this a beast to be reconed with. And a huge plus to top it all off, I don't have a million 13 year olds adding me to their list all the time.

You're highly mistaken. I've watched the tech market for since I was about 15 (actually, before that with my C=64 when I was 9), but that was well over 16 years ago, before M$ became so "evil." I remember when IBM was the 8 ton guerilla, and M$ was really breaking into the PC market.
Of course there's a pattern. Would you expect anything else? It doesn't stop me from being optimistic about Google not becoming too "evil." They really haven't given me a reason to believe they're "evil" anyway.
Oh how I wish I had mod points... I don't see geeks turning against Google too much. Google has some really neat and geeky things going on, and they don't feel they need to charge for it or even keep it closed, like some other companies do. Naw, Google will probably be the geeks champion, along side IBM (yeah really!) for a long time to come. Now, if only IBM and Google teamed up to drive M$ into the ground.... That'd be fun to watch. *evil laughs*
Right, but as we all know, about 75% of all statistics are bunk.
Anyway, who cares what people believe? It's what's been proven that counts. There are a lot of facts people tend to refute and ignore because they don't believe it. Simple belief or dis-belief doesn't mean squat. Just because you don't believe something doesn't make it any less true.
Massachusetts has a valid reason to worry. The worry about future readability of the data they are producing today. What if M$ went away in the next 30 years? What if, while going down hill, they decided to bleed their customers for the use of their XML "standard?" I don't doubt this could happen....
I also don't buy Microsoft's stance on the OpenDoc format. They can, and should, implement this format as an export/import at the least. Backwards compatability is a sorry excuse for not implementing open standards. They just don't want to give up the gold they find when they have locked their customers into a certain format.
I know I'm repeating a lot of what's been said before, but the reason they didn't completely open their servers in this phase of their beta testing is because:
1.) To cut down on "spim." 2.) To make sure it scales for their users before opening it up to others.
Why do they have to open it up right now? They've only been open about a week. I know exactly how annoying all the bots are on YIM, and I'm sure Google does too. They'll open it up, but in a controlled kind of way, or we'd see what happened to YIM, MSN, and AIM, happen to GTalk. That'd just suck purple donkey gonads....
I'm a PHP programmer learning Java right now, but I've also dabbled in python and C++. So far, I can see making general useful tools with both. PHP was written for the Web. Hands down it is the easiest language to learn I know of. Very little can compete with the MySQL/PHP for web applications involving the need for a database.
Java and Javascript, on the other hand, can be mighty powerful. The main problem I see is that serverside implementations like Tomcat and JBoss don't use the same, or even similar syntax, so you're pretty locked into whatever you start with.
PHP is probably the most common, cross-platform, out-of-the-box running web scripting language, besides maybe perl(ack!), I've found. Did I mention it's fast? Also, most of the webhosts running on *nix systems support it, but very few also support JSP's. (I've been on the webhost "scene" for more than 2 years now)
Another problem I've seen in my place of business is that most of the JSP/Java programs are really, really, really slow. We're talking about a program that takes MINUTES to load, or a web/database frontend that takes MINUTES to find what it wants, format it, and present it. This is rather annoying if you ask me. Especially when there's a customer on the phone also waiting for the data. bleh! We also run multiple Java backends (JBoss, Tomcat, and Resin) which always seem to crash for one reason or another.
Chances are, if you're hosting your own site(s), do whatever you want. Any language is scalable and fast if the developers do it right. Otherwise, I'd probably go with PHP on the frontend, and use any number of SQL servers freely available if it's needed.
I think we shield our children way too much here in the US. A 7 year-old can watch a movie with a graphic part in it and not have problems with it, but some people don't realize this and try to "protect them for their own good." I say let them watch the movie if they really want to. It'll be less violent than turning on the news....
Just checked my pam ridden hotmail account that I've had since before M$ bought it and they're actually offering 250MB to freeloaders. The 2GB is for paying customers.

It's because they want people to know it's quite possibly unstable and could blow up at anytime. Kinda like CowboyNeal. :)
