They do it on TV all the time - have you never wondered how movies ft into exacting TV timeslots? This technology was first introduced to the broadcast market by Macrovision.
Can you explain this hilarious analogy to those of us who actually know who Steve Jobs and Prince Charles are, and cannot see ANY similarities whatsoever?
Change your analogy to chocolate or coffee, and you'll see that owning the raw material (the beans) doesn't really put you in much of position of power. Whoever gathers the money from the consumer is in the hot seat - what happens to that money is controlled by the gatherer.
Sure enough, but - judging by the "Google? What's that?" responses I get from the average Windows users around the office, I can't see it helping much.
Don't forget, MOST web users have never heard of Slashdot, MOST probably don't really know what Google is.
Off the top of my head, isn't the iPod commanding something like SEVENTY percent of the portable MP3 player market at the moment? If it carries on like this, virtually every MP3 player will be an iPod anyway.
iTMS isn't a cash cow - Apple make fuck-all from it. The iTMS fulfills the same role as WIndows does for MS, it helps lock-in to the iPod (as Windows assists Office lock-in).
If Apple could get a good payout from Sirius to include their service, I think they'd go for it. Even better if it was an exclusive deal - that'd really make Creative cry.
This guy is obviously a complete idiot. Why didn't he just attach a Firewire external HD? It would have cost him less, been quieter looked better and been both more upgradeable AND resalable.
Oh yeah, highly informative. Have you been through an extensive testing matrix with the update? There didn't seem to bae a single G% specific item in the KB article I looked at anyway - why recommend the update for systems that it will not affect?
That's a very silly law. In Britain, it's yours until you give it away - even leaving it in a bag outside your house doesn't change that. I have a pile of junkmail on my desk at home that i INTEND to dispose of, but no-one knows that except me, and I might change my mind.
After the garbage man has taken your trash (with your implicit or explicit permission) you no longer have a claim to it, if anyone else takes it, they' DON'T have your permission and may be pursued for theft.
You might well find out soon that 'chipping' your car does INDEED fall within the remit of the evil DMCA. At that point, people might actually start noticing how they've had their essential freedoms shat upon in the USA.

Yep, I thought as much. No parallels whatsoever.
What?

I've been using iTunes since day one, and I don't even have an iPod, let alone any iTMS-bought malware.
We don't need to guess, Apple declared their results as usual.

You're right, censorship is bad. The only thing worse is complete ignorance of spelling and grammar.

You do realise, I assume, that 99.97% of web users have never heard of Wikipedia, let alone used it?

What an idiot.

You're right. I've printed out that post and had it laminated already, quite a singular intelligence at work there.
He is a faggot yet he has a wife?
Is a simple insult beyond you?
Pretty much all people ARE smart.
I don't care how they came about, I'd sorely like to subject them both to an illegal invasion.
So George Bush REALLY IS a good candidate for president of the US, then?
That doesn't follow. I asked what an inch was, I was told half the length of my cock, I inferred therefore an inch to be 9cm.
I'm all for a little badinage, but let's try and keep it logical at least.
If an inch is 2.54 cms, then it's clearly around a seventh of the length of my chopper.
Why did you both capittalise and add an apostrophe to 'games'?
Are you a bit simple or something?
So about 9cm then?
