AAAAHHHH STUUPPIIIID... ok I feel better. Now.. Why are these people afraid of radio waves? These people probably have a cordless phone, microwave, and a cell phone. Why is everyone so sue happy that they always have to find something stupid to sue over. Would they be happier if they took out the WiFi and install hundreds of feet of cabling? I think the noise of all the drills and men stringing cabling through the school would be more of a problem for the children then a harmless radio signal.
..Microsoft is patenting the color blue for display on PC's. Microsoft now ownes the rights to the color code #0000FF. Anyone using this color in their operating system or web site will be in direct violation of the patent. Microsoft also has a patent pending for the letter "M". Which if successful not only means that non-Microsoft keyboards will be manufactured without the letter "M", but any operating system or software title that is not Microsoft may not use the letter "M" anywhere on the screen. This also applies to Web sites.
I'll give you a little story. Windows ME was the last operation system I ever payed for. Big mistake. It froze up *WHILE* it was installing. I had so many problems with it I eventually reformated and dual booted with 98 and 2000. It would lock up all the time. And since they totally removed DOS from the OS, every time I had to force a reboot because it locked up the windows version of Scandisk would always pop up, only the windows version of scandisk would always lock up, causing me to have to reboot again, which in turn caused scandisk to pop up, which locked up. To break this cycle I had to boot into safe mode so scandisk wouldn't freeze, then I had to reboot. And this is just a fraction of the problems ME gave me. The OS was so full of bugs that it only stayed on the market for 9 months if that tells you how crappy it was.
I'm not going to hide the company's identity. I use to work for Best Buy as a PC tech. I realize now that I've learned a lot more since then and am much more qualified than I was then. If you know anything about how Best Buy's service center works you'll know that the PC techs also have to deal with the other products, not just the PC's. When a customer sent a unit to our service center they had to sign a document saying they picked it up, the tech had to sign it, and if there was a balance due the tech had to either pass it to a cashier or collect the ballance ourselves. One day I came to work as usual and got right to work as usual when my supervisor asked to see me in the office. Turns out someone gave a customer back his stereo and forgot to charge him the $30 balance he owed on the service. This person also forgot to sign the documentation so there was NO tech signature on the paper work. However, since I worked that day, they assumed it was my fault despite the lack of a tech's signature, and dispite the fact that I had never seen this customer's unit before. So without question I was thrown out the door after 3 years with no problems. Also turns out, out of the 6 techs that were there when I worked there, all were fired but one. They had also worked there at least 2 years or more and were replaced by high school kids. But hey, why pay someone with experience $10 an hour when you can pay a kid $7 and almost get the job done?
If anyone ever listened to Rush Limbaugh one of his opinions is, if you want to get rid of something just tax it. I know he's probably not the most popular man when it comes to slashdotters but it seems in this area most people agree. Taxing internet sales will be destructive to the industry.
Remember, movie piracy doesn't just hurt actors, but also camera operators, key grips, makeup artists, and costumers.
You know what else hurts them more than piracy? Bad movies that no one wants to see! It's been several months since I've even had the desire to go see a movie.
"As for mix of wired and wireless... unless Motorola makes some sort of pass-through port on this thing, I would say that it's unlikely. But any GB player who buys this thing is probably already going to have a link cable sitting around, too..."
Here's a thought, although it probably won't work. Link 2 GBA's with a cable, and then attach the wireless adapter to the port on the cable.
Remember in the movie "Big" staring Tom Hanks, where Tom Hanks's character worked at a toy company and he had an idea to make a comic book with a microchip that could change the story depending on the desire of the reader? Remember how they all laughed at him and mocked him for his silly idea? Well who's laughing now!?
Ok then. Next time I download a song I'll send the person who sang it 12 cents. I'm sure the starving artists will be glad I was honest enough to send them their 12 cents, seeing as how their starving and all. Just think, If I download 5 songs they can go buy a 50 cent can of walmart soup and have change to spare! A whole album and they can buy a pack of hot dogs!
I thought that myself. I hate Dell, every time I ask someone if they want me to build them a PC they say they've already ordered a Dell. I hate most name brand PC's to be honest.
They would also have to sue PC manufacturers because GTA3 is available on PC. And because it can be played on a dell, compaq, HP, IBM, Alienware etc. then they'd have to track down every possible PC it could be played on and sue the companies.
Correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm not trying to troll, but wouldn't a good parent who has basic reading skills see the big "Rated M for Mature" and see that their child might be too young for this game? Just my opinion. I think when I have kids someday there's going to be a dad's game cabinet and a kids game cabinet with a lock on dad's.
check this out, you can get an nForce motherboard for like $60 and a 1.3ghz duron for like $30, or you can splurge and get an Athlon for $50. For $150 - $200 (cause you have to buy some DDR too) you can run almost any game you want. For the ones that won't run on the build in GeForce2 chip, there's an AGP slot.
What you need to do is get you an aquarium. But your motherboard down into it and build your PC inside it. Then, overclock the crap out of it and fill the aquarium with liquid Nitrogen. Problem solved.
If they sue all us americans for sharing files, it's good to know there'll still be a whole country full of people sharing data as always.
Now all we have to do is figure out a way to make them think our IP's are in Canada when they go searching for file traders.

Sharing music online doesn't hurt my willingness to buy a CD. The fact that radio stations repeat the same music constantly for days at a time hurts my willingness to buy a CD. If I've heard te same piece of crap song 50 times a day for the past 3 months I don't want to own it, let alone pay for it. If they RIAA wants to do something useful to boost sales they should regulate how many times a day a song is played on the radio on one day. (Does it not occur to them that the radio stations freely distribute music, and more people know how to listen to the radio than know how to download music? It's also completely legal for them to stream their radio broadcasts over the internet, music and all.)
Besides. I don't like physical media. You have to keep up with it and it gets damaged too easily. Only for the car do I burn mp3's to CD.
I think one main reason why I haven't bought a CD in a long time is the fact that by the time all the radio stations get through playing the same music several times a day for months at a time, I'm so sick of the songs I certainly don't want to own it. And because it's not worth the extra $10 - $20 to buy one song that just happens not to annoy me after months of having drilled into my ears by the radio, I simply download it. What difference does it make? It's played constantly for free on the radio anyway. Why doesn't the RIAA try to bring down the radio stations for broadcasting copyrighted music for free? For me that hurts my willingness to purchase more than being able to download it for free. Take movies for example. I like to download movies and sample them. If I like it, I buy it, if I don't I just don't watch it alot. I have several DVD's that I bought after I downloaded the movies. I was willing to buy them because I wasn't sick of them and because they don't come on tv every day for free, several times a day, for months at a time.

In this case it means.... A CD with beer spilt on it!

Heck, In my house $200 would be a big deal.

So... It'll be like running DOS again.
