Kazaa-lite Shut Down

Yesterday as I drove to work I listened to a song on the radio broadcast city wide for anyone to listen to free of charge. When I came home I listened to the same song on my PC in MP3 format that I downloaded free of charge. What's the difference? I didn't pay for either one. And, chances are, I'm not going to invest in many of the radio station's advertised products. And also, since it's free on the radio, and really isn't that great, I don't feel like paying for it. So again, what's the difference?
Yes, I worked as a PC Tech at best buy at the time. That's how I new about the upgrade cards. I laughed when I saw them. During the time of Y2K they offered a Y2K compliance Check, for a price of coarse, and if your computer failed they offered an upgrade card, also for a price. I don't recall ever having to run a check or sell a card. I also never understood why they had to have a utility check for Y2k compliance when all you had to do is set the clock ahead to December 31, 1999 at 11:59PM and see what happens. I also found it humorous that things like VCR's and Microwaves had Y2K Ready! stamped on them. And I had dozens of people ask me before they bought just about anything," is this Y2K ready". If I were a less honest person it would have been a perfect time to tell them no, buy the more expensive one for that.
Yeah, My 386 didn't shut off at all! I pretty much new then that PC's would not be shuting down all over the place and that the "Y2K upgrade card" they sold at best buy was a scam.
Your friend should use this opportunity to make some money. He should test another CD-ROM in the system. If it shows up (different CD-ROMs have different firmware so it might work.) tell the customer they need a new CD-ROM and sell it to them. It's a though. Then take their old CD-ROM and sell it to linux and Windows NT/9X users.
Sometimes it's cool to record the commercials. When my family got their first VCR back in 1984 we recorded the Wizard of Oz off TV. Because we were new to VCR Technology we recorded all the commercials. Now I can sit back and watch 20 year old commercials I haven't seen since I was little. Commercials like "where's the beef" and commercials for Pepsi Free, remember that? I think there's even an old Max Headroom commercial for Coke on there. It's also wierd to hear car dealers saying that you don't have to start making payments until 1985. I know it's a strange point of view but recording commercials can be an interesting trip back in time if the recording lasts for 20 years or so.
... work in the same building as one of Dell's old call centers. They were a call center for several other companies as well. They'd hire anyone as long as they passed the test and could sit through 2 weeks of training. During training one employee broke the pins off a CPU trying to get it back into the ZIF socket the wrong way. If the folks in india were worse than that I feel sorry for Dell, even though I hate them. People who don't understand the concept of a ZIF socket shouldn't tell others how to diagnose their PC's. I hope that their new american call centers are a little better than that.
I'll probably get modded down for this but.. If you put a voting machine in front of the same people who couldn't figure out the Florida ballot and said it was confusing, what makes you think they can figure out a voting machine? If these are the same people who are going to be voting against Bush, then yeah he'll win if they have to use a machine.
... You mean... Shopping carts can't already talk? oh my... I knew I shouldn't have let that shopping cart talk me into buying those fuzzy bunny slippers. I suppose now you'll tell me that they're aren't little invisible elves that open the doors at the store for me either.
So basically, enough people have wised up to the pop up box that asks for permission to install gator that they have to change the name so people won't recognise it. People should really wise up to the face that unless you know exactly what that little pop up box is going to do to your system, and you approve, you should NEVER choose yes!
It actually doesn't matter how it looks because you know the first thing people are going to do is look for the settings to change it back to "Windows Classic" mode.
I've had the same problem with prodigy and now my DSL service. Those ads that use MS Messaging always pissed me off because they would ALWAYS say, stop these popup ads for good, but they were the ones sending the ads out. They stopped once I hooked up my DSL to a simple linksys router with built in firewall. If I take the firewall down, they come back. So basically all you really need to stop them is a firewall. Oh and by the way, this is yet another reason why I would never have AOL.
I quite agree. I have a 76 nova. I will continue having a 76 nova when alternative energy sources are main stream. They're just going to have to find something else that will burn in my engine if they don't want me to use gas. My car is 27 years old and as far as I'm concerned it's found it's final owner until the day I pass it on to the next generation.
I know a young woman, almost 30 now, but this happened when she was a teenager. This wonderful young lady is the daughter of a preacher. She was riding in a car with a friend one night when a drunk driver hit them. The accident broke her hip and made her brain bounce off the inside of her skull, basically erasing her memories and sending her into a coma. Needless to say, being the daughter of a preacher man, she was prayed for by many. The doctors said it would be years before she would be normal again. It would be years before she could do something as simple as tying her shoes or speaking in complete sentences. Now it didn't happen overnight, but not only did she wake from her coma, but in a few months time she was able to speak, and tie her shoes. I lost contact with her until she was 20, but at 20, when the doctors said she still would be mumbling and drooling, you couldn't even tell she had ever been in an accident. She was normal, very happy and chearful, and now she's expecting her first born child with her husband. According to medical science this person should still be dealing with these injuries, but leads a normal life. I don't know the specifics for the experiment that they did, but I do know this. I've seen the power of prayer work. I've seen it turn years into months and put back together a shattered life ruined by someone who was irresponsible with his alchohol.
... what would give someone the idea to scan something like this with a 3D laser scanner? Were they sitting around one day looking at stone hinge thinking, hey, we got this cool new 3D laser scanner, let's point it at that rock over there and see what happens... well lookie there.. someone done carved little axes in this rock.
Just makes you wonder what would give them the idea that this might come back with results.
Make another partition, format C: to boot a dos prompt, then install windows on D:. Heck, install DOS 6.22 on C: if you really want full DOS support. I'm sure XP64 will still have a boot menu for dual booting. I for one still dual boot with Windows 98 on my windows machine because older things don't always run great on 2000 or XP. When you're all done throw a 64-bit linux on another partition. You can never have too many OS's in the event one gets screwed. Then there's always the option of running DOS or Windows 98 in a virtual machine, if you really need to use it while your other apps are running.
And as for the interface looking more like 2000 or 98, GOOD! I don' think too many people were fond of the orange, green and blue anyway.

I guess all the movie pirates in CA will have to drive to Oregon and Nevada to record movies. darn. Drive-ins are always good.

B) I never thought I'd see a day when Slashdot would post a Pro-Microsoft article.
