  1. Mod parent up. on California Court: EULAs are Inapplicable in Some Cases · · Score: 0

This is the best post I've seen in about a month. And it only has a 4, get a life and moderate it up.

  2. How WILL this be hacked? on Electric Company Using Power Lines for Data · · Score: 0

I think the probablility of this being hacked is extremely high. With radio interference, and power connections so available, it would seem simple to send rediculous transmissions. Of course it won't effect anything for good.

  3. LGPL, not GPL. on WINE May Change To LGPL · · Score: 0

I think this is offtopic, so you're lucky. They're discussing switching to LGPL which has no disadvantage that the BSD licence doesn't also have. Though it would seem slightly hard to define "based on" and "uses".

Still the fundamental principal is nice, you have to change a lot, and add stuff to make money, which encourages creativity, or open source.

I think your getting optimistic, there might be something on venus, but with mars' thin atmosphere, mercury's closeness to the sun, and Jupiter so far away, it looks kinda dim.

I'm really interested in the exploration of Jupiter, and saturn moons, so far away from the sun, yet they're warmer than mars (some of the time), and bigger than mercury.

  6. Re:Lack of intrest on Tom's Hardware Reviews the Xbox · · Score: 0

Of course the xbox has to be "hackable" it might just involve some cost, and some information. Xbox games start, so you just need a authorization from a game manufacturer. Scince xbox uses a standard hard drive, and you don't have to sync with a m$ server to run a game, the codes are stored on the machine.

It's not easy, or even with the little intrest it would be hacked, but it's possible, definatly.

  7. Linux will never make it on the desktop... on Bob Young says Linux won't rule the desktop · · Score: 0

...And I'll never stop being a troll. I am not trying to flame Young, though I don't like redhat, I'm merely speaking against it. People get tired of things after a while, that's why we see changes. I'm sure there was a time when everyone said "Toyota will never make it in the US." But they have, and if it weren't for the high prices, they'd have a huge market.

It's not that Chevrolets, Fords and Chrystler don't work, they just aren't as good. Microsoft will loose the desktop when people wake up and find out that Linux ( vw bug edition ) is easeir to use, more stable, and faster. [/rant]

I have never known a microsoft product to make business sense. I don't think RMS is going overboard just for the record, I think Miguel is going insane.

Sun has a much better platform than .Net with Java, and it's even faster. Java is even more popular.

  9. Lack of intrest on Tom's Hardware Reviews the Xbox · · Score: 0

The Xbox hasn't been hacked for a few reasons. 1. it sucks. It doesn't do anything cooler than a PS2, even with better hardware, and Gamecube is less expencive, plus you wont get a green screen of death.

Maybe people just woke up and decided that the Xbox was a bad deal when it finally came out. $300 for a intel 700mhz w/64mb and a 8gig hd?

I really think these companies could do better. Intel bought the rights to Alpha last year, but they won't be using any of it until 2004. We know from benchmarks that a 667mhz Alpha was capable of trashing a Itanium 800mhz, and there's a lot more powerful Alpha's than that. Intel is too much into marketing from my view.

It seems to me that skilled sysadmins would be better off with a system that gets patched as soon as the vulnerability is found, instead of 2 weeks-2 months later. Plus you could make your own patch on Linux.

  15. Too Redhat-controlled. on Linux Standard Base 1.1 · · Score: 0

The problem with this LSB thing is, it's too controlled by redhat. Redhat has been one of the biggest problems in putting things in the wrong place and using dumb formats.

If LSB is going to work, they're going to have to start doing things right, instead of how they feel like. Of course LSB can't really be bad, the worst that could happen is just redhat joining it, but I'm afraid that's about all that will happen.
