    I'd argue you know nothing about firearms or their defensive use.

    Any firearm i know of can only be used offensively.

    You're not hearing about those because you don't speak the languages spoken in any of those countries.
    Wikileaks is a primarily English website. It's no surprise that you'll hear more about the US leaks on English news networks.

    Not to mention that in China, your family would be incarcerated if you pulled a stunt like this. Not so much in the US.

    Are you counting on respect for human rights or on incompetence of the US government agencies in your last sentence? ...

    I don't use closed source Applications in my linux installation.

    But even if i would, google desktop would not be one of them:

    When some closed source app starts to read files that it's not supposed to read, word of that will soon spread. (as happened with skype)

    But when an application is supposed to read all my files to index them, there is just no way i trust a closed source app with that.

    Especially not an app from a company that doesn't care the least about other peoples privacy.

    Given that there are not many entities which i trust less than Microsoft, it's not troubeling me very much. While i have a Windows XP partition on my laptop, but i would never do anything other than gaming with that crap.

    Obviously if that were the reasoning, nobody would ever sell computers bundled with MS Vista with any kind of waranty. :-P
