I remember trying to put in a new sound card in my old 486/DX/66 Packard Bell.. It probably took a good hour because i was so worried about cracking this couple thousand dollar machine, along with the couple hundred dollar sound card.
Even though Tim O'Reilly prefaces his "poll" with a statement about how these 15 responses do not "represent a significant sample" he still bases a large part of the story on it.
I don't think that those numbers are "suggestive" or "intriguing".
Now, his statements about David Pogue's book being bought in high quantities do raise an eyebrow, but i would still like to see more numbers.
Okay.. so it has a subset of dom but messing with document.stylesheets collection doesn't come out clean in Opera... Why do i want to purchase a browser that still has issues... yes IE sucks sometimes but its free, and I think that we are sick of tossing money into software for PCs
What I don't understand, is this owner of sex.com hasn't seen the Judge ordered 65 mil so he thinks he will get the money somehow and make a case against Verisign? And on top of that his "bounty" is only a mere $50,000... Will people look arround for a nerd in mexico?
His "Case" against Verisign is weak. He said it "could have been avoided if they had simply called, or emailed..." "They do it now. They should have done it then" Thats a case?! Verisign can't ammend their policies?
Why not instead of region encoding they just stay with their current use of PAL encoding in the UK... i think its easier to break a region code than change to a different standard completely.
IF you do decide to use WMP, you should at least know enough about it. The article says itself "You can also choose to turn off copy protection when you create your music collection, which can be done easily in any version of [WMP7.x or later]." so why is this a topic of discussion? The story is a tale of someone who didn't know what they were doing... why does this matter to me?

The disussion was mostly/.'ers sharing anticdotes about getting lost as a child, and how this tool is a "Godsend". Others stated that parents want their kid to "handle themselves outdoors".
in my town there are so many (mostly linksys) AP's that use the default SSID that I could practically drive arround and hit the internet from anywhere.
It would be interesting to compromise a machine across the internet while connected to someone else's AP... the deleting of your logs is basically driving home.
you might actually have a point there...
But how many more people will go out and pickup a mac just because they want an iPod? Yes the iPod is rather keen, but I don't see that many people doing this.
If you are curious about what was updated today, just go to apple.com and hit refresh a couple times... it will eventually scroll through Jaguar/Imac/Ipod/Itunes/etc...
I purchaced a phone and plan from SprintPCS only a month ago and recived a very simular voice mail.
Sounds like telemarketing spam is soon to hit cell phones.
Why is this not illegal?

ahh I see it all comes down to the price tag
Whats the difference between this and hooking up an access point for point to point or point to multipoint?
The only link that actually does anything in this story is the google.com url... there isn't even a link to the story he was referencing.

"older satellites that have drifted from their geostationary orbits" But.. wont these polar caps/etc drift themselves? Won't that be a problem?
