I think this suit is about a breach of contract. The chip makers have a contract with the MPAA(or some related org) that they will only sell to approved DVD player manufacturers. In this case, the DVD player manufacturers are not on the approved list. The chip maker signed the contract and then breach.

Dogs cannot speak a human language so do they not understand math? If I throw a ball near a dog it will/can run twards it can catch it. Does this not show a fundamental understanding of math? To run to a ball and catch it you have to understand concepts of atleast equality, rate change and unknowns, ie. change your position based on where you predict the ball will land.

The author of that article is refering to gross weight, the theoretical maximum weight of a vehicle, which includes Car + Passengers + Stuff. Most SUV's driving around are not at their gross weight, with a mom and kids the actual weight will be considerably less. Now the quesiton comes, does the law refer to Actual weight or Gross weight.

That reference does not mention marking something as NOT execute. I think the document does not go into enought detail in permissions. I saw a mention above and someone wrote that if the CPU could read the data, it could execute it. If that is correct then setting data/read-only on a segment does not preculde it execution. -Nate

  16. Re:compiled on Transmeta To Add 'NX' Antivirus Feature To Chips · · Score: 2, Informative

I am pretty sure you dont need to recompile code to use NX, the OS allocates stack space to your program and hence knows what data to flag as NX. Now, if your program executes code on the stack by design, then you will have a problem. Nate
