One of his most famous sayings was that he had a dream that his four children would not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
Yes, and they've now proved beyond doubt that they are worth shit.
George Zimmerman would never have seen prosecution if he was black or Trayvon was white
Funny. Seen from out of the US, it seems more like a case of 'I'm some kind of superhero militia man and I can shoot anybody who doesn't act the way I like'. And did. Uncontrolled militias. Individual militias! Right.
Children who grow up in poverty tend to underperform no matter what you do with them in school.
Where I'm from there used to be military schools for that. I don't remember the exact term but they'd take kids from all ages and run them though the usual 'group methods' while keeping them away from families. They could still go home on WE or for vacation, but no way could they step out of the school during the week. Kids would be send there after running in trouble with or without agreement from the family. And it didn't particularly give a 'military' education.
You mean right now ? Just when I finally more or less got used to Gimp after years of trying, they removed the ability to save any file besides native ocx format. You have to use export every single time you want to save as jpg (even for multiple saves without closing), and it doesn't use the directory of the opened file. And it tells you that the file isn't saved when you try and close it. 10 clicks instead of two. It's been driving me insane for the last few months.
They may not transmit deadly diseases like ticks or mosquitoes, but the only time I was exposed to bedbugs, each bite led to an allergic reaction as big as an egg that lasted for a week (with medication).
Because: (1) It would be plastic instead of metal (not good for heat conduction) and (2) I'm perfectly willing to shell 100$ to someone who has already done the job instead of wasting my time and 1000$ doing 3 iterations to get an OK design.
Why can't someone make a really nice, metal, miniITX system with space for 2 hard drives that doesn't look like some cheap, gaudy plastic-front POS?
A hundred times this. I've been looking for two days for the smallest case+mobo that can take two 3.5" hard drive and one 2.5" SSD (or possibly an mSata), no optical bay, has plenty of USB, has integrated graphics and accepts VT-d processors so I can run a headless home server that can run virtual machines efficiently.
Well, so far I'm empty handed or the cases are twice bigger than they could be (the Shuttles, which have a very nice cooling system).
I sometimes wonder if the entire 'too expensive' academic system of the US is simply not some scheme to get bright kids into the military. I mean in most countries people'd rather plant nails in their feet to avoid being drafted for a one year military service in peace time, so I can't imagine having only options between flipping burgers for life or get an education plus a 10 year vacation in Butfuckistan since your country is forever at war somewhere.
A hundred mod points to you sir. The first thing I change in any finder/explorer/dolphin/file manager is to set it in list form for easy sorting. In addition to that you need to be pretty visually-oriented to be able to find the icon you are looking for on a 1920x1080 screen full of icons. And I'm not. Also why I LOATHE UML, but that's another story.
I wonder if this has ever happened in some company, everybody or most employees quitting over some complaint. And what became of the company afterwards, because my guess is that a company without employees is pretty much worthless.
Compensation also doesn't have to be in the form of money. It can be in the form of thanks. Or recognition. Or conditions about how any subsequent discoveries are made available to others.
I'm with you here. Note that for decades those cells were exchanged anonymously between labs. And it should have stayed that way to keep the greedy from coming out of the woodwork.
I give blood and I know that it can be used for research. If you have a biosample taken and it's used in medical research, it's a good thing. Why should you be compensated ? You benefit indirectly when something useful is made out of it (or somebody else's). And in particular, why should the 2nd cousin's grandnephew be compensated when, as for copyrights, they haven't contributed a THING ? Not everything is about money.
Yeah, when the phone rang in the middle of the night, my uncle got up too fast, fainted, broke his skull on the floor and was for TWO YEARS in the hospital (on and off) as a consequence. And they never figured out who had called. Hint: never call in the middle of the night unless it's an emergency RELEVANT to the person you are calling.
If they are so common (7 manufacturers according to your link), then why can't I code in the garden of the lab instead of my office yet ? I just did a search for a laptop with transflective screen and came out empty handed.
The European Union tends to standardize many things, but are they working on standardizing crime statistics ? I would be surprised looking at how within one country they change the way the stats are measured from one government to the next the make the previous one look bad...
I'm guessing you haven't traveled much, otherwise you wouldn't claim France and the US are 'different cultures'. They are very, very, similar (probably why they are bickering all the time, but I digress). If you want to take the Papua, Yemen pastoralists, urban Chinese and US rednecks, then you might have a point.
I didn't mention it because basically any European country can fit the bill. It's actually France. As to what those 'other factors' are, it's anybody's guess.
I can't believe nobody mentioned the other excellent movie about killer orcas: rust and bones. OK, the orca is only the start of the story, but it's really good.
So, when we can call our Google car from our phone to come and pick us up automatically, will they arrest us too ? Taxi driver has always been a job for idiots and immigrants who don't speak the language. I know, there's one in the family.
How is shooting an unarmed teen from your car 'legitimate defense' ?!? You on drugs or on KKK or something ?

I just gave away his anthology yesterday to make room... for a newcomer to the family. Should have kept it.

I respectfully disagree, since it's hanging onto Uranus' orbit, it should be named Dingleberry. Or at the very least Klingon (or Clingon).
Great, more light pollution for astronomers.
you must have blacked out the old days of GIMP. ;)

* Join the military so you can get the GI Bill

Everyone else could quit on the spot
I wonder if this has ever happened in some company, everybody or most employees quitting over some complaint. And what became of the company afterwards, because my guess is that a company without employees is pretty much worthless.

Being woken up is more than a "slight" annoyance

you should also consider that lower crime rates are related to high per capita firearm ownership
Dead wrong. My country has no firearm ownership and crime rates are a tiny fraction of the US. So OBVIOUSLY other factors are at work. Flame on.
I can't believe nobody mentioned the other excellent movie about killer orcas: rust and bones. OK, the orca is only the start of the story, but it's really good.
Government representatives are supposed to represent their constituents, not multinational corporations. Make it illegal for foreign^H^H^H^H^H^H^H entities to fund domestic campaigns and we can avoid these conflicts.
Corrected that for you.
