Just one tiny correction, the government does not and can not and should not look out for those who can not look out for themselves. They do not know how to do it, they would do it wrong even if they did know, and it would cost way to omuch. That is not the way it works in the woods, the wild, in nature. There are stronger animals and weaker animals and nature has appropriate ways to deal with this, sometimes what we might apply the word "humane" to & somtimes in ways we might apply some other word to, but none the less, it is not the responsiblity of everyone to look out for everyone else. I wish we could agree that nature has its own system for this & we ought not meddle. This savage dolt of a president we have right now is meddling & in such a way as to only fund religious right whack job orgnizations with money to help those down on their luck. Not fair. Not correct. Not even close. Ought not even try.
Please keep your GPL religion in check when posting pure non-sense like this. Every person on the planet would agree that there is a place that is appropriate for open source software & commercial software, they both have strengths & weeknesses. You brush this aside with the simplicity & ignorance of thought of a child. Are you really saying that the 1.5 million businesses that run PIX every single minute of the year are unhappy with them? Please.
This is an excellent plan & I do not know why we're not trying it right now. It could have the same sort of soft phase in that SPF is trying to use for their phase in (ie: three stages, as I recall). It would be simple, mostly free, and very effective.
Why oh why oh why?
I see your point. It is a fair one. There is absolutely no question at all whatsoever about whether the media is liberal or conserative as proven on last weeks episode of NOW on PBS. The numbers are in. It aint even close. As for this one specific point, though, I guess the truth is the truth even for the two gentlemen you mention which are so unapologetically the pawns of corporate media.
This is misguided, isnt it? Or am I misunderstanding your thinking-out-loud? If you have this siutation, why wouldnt you put this file in to a password protected directory.
probably based on amount of traffic more than amount of people. The people in other nations do not generate any traffic what with not having computers and all.
I think I'll patent the way that I walk, talk, write, breathe, then I'll be able to hold-up IBM for a quadrillion dollars one day.
This is silly.
I thought IBM wanted to endorse Linux because it was a chance for them to forget about all the mistakes they made on AIX/UNIX (ie: proprietary-ness, slowness, cost, ROI, etc), but now I wonder if they've lost their mind & cant remember what they just got done teachign themselves only a few years ago.
Greed.
Silly.
Not just because we're a reseller or because it is made on this shore or for any other reason than they are the best I've ever used/seen:

I agree with your suggestions, but Google would then have to charge you (& everyone else who chose this feature) a $4 monthly premium for that service. Remember.
Does that include people with laptops? People with UPS's on their desktops? C'mon, man, that aint true. There were thousands of people with computers up-n-running connected to a piece of dead cat5.
Eric,
This is a fascinating point of view on the topic that I had never considred before . (So, gees, this reading thing really does teach you things, let you teach yourself things, I guess thoes people were right after all.) It seems like it would be a difficult argument to make in court that a company was required to make drivers for their hardware for other OS's. I couldnt do it, but I'm sure there is someone smarter than I who could give it a whirl. You'd think that the profit motive would be enough for them. But, oh yeah, I forgot about their support offering & how dismal they are, & the cost burden to the manufacturer. I guess they could release a driver and post it to the non-supported-software section of their site. Thanks. Jason
That is not true, there are not "just as many vulnerabilities in Linux". That is simply not true. Now, you ask, please prove that, well, that is a fair question, & I'd like to support it, but I'm in possession of those facts, so I am hopign that someone who is can jump in here and help me out with a URL or three. But, we all know that Linux, drawing on a very long, time-tested, people-tested, secure history from UNIX, is so far ahead of Windows (which is what 10 years old), there is no comparison.
I think you have now made it necessary for/. to create a new rating titled 'offensive' for us to use.
Perhaps you didnt think twice about posting, and we all knows weve done that before, but, please, 1/4 of the worild is dying from this. I mean, c'mon, that is not funny. Or helpful. Or didactic. Or anything.
I heard something on NPR the other afternoon about a new series of books (ie: seomthing like 50 so far & counting) that are none longer than about 50+ pages. The main point is that each concept is covered on one page, so the math book is 50 concepts on 50 pages.
This does not exactly answer the question answered, but it is a very nice tangent and, from the sounds of it, very nice books. I'm going to go buy some for myself now.

stealing or ignorant, take your pick, which is better?
Not broken but ancient. Whomever is repsonsible for updating SMTP ought to be flogged.
Kudos to SpamAssassin & ClamAV, both awesome projects from our friends at SF.net. Wow. We love 'em both here. Couldnt recommend any higher.

whooopsy there, problem with that theory is that there is no god. Now what?

You are confused ... it is not the presidential contenders who will annex dirt poor nations and force them in to DNS slavery, it is the incubment.
Andrew, How about sharing some of that knowledge with them then. You know that NBC PSA called "the more you know"? :)

If any one from Apple is reading, I'd use it immediately. I'd also think about moving away from Windows on an even larger scale. Wow. What an idea.

Why ruin a perfectly great reply with those last two links. Jesum Crowe. Disgusting.

I thikn they need to re-title that software to iShit. I checked on Apple's behalf, and iShit.com is available. I say go for it.
