Ajax in Action

It's funny this review should come up, as I thumbed through this book in BN last night. It took me a minute to find it, because it's on sale for 20% off, and was on a special display. However, after looking through it, and comparing it to the only other available title, I went with the other book. That book is Foundations of Ajax from APress by Ryan Asleson and Nathaniel T. Schutta. That book is only about half the size for the same money, but seemed to have a bit more to it. Rather than covering so much theory about why you'd want Ajax and how an Ajax system might work, Foundations of Ajax actually gets to the point and shows some real and made up examples. Although no CD of source was included, the examples are available from the APress website. Most were so basic, they could be easily implemented in any existing project as a test, or for permanent use. I haven't finished it, so I can't give a full review, but I recommend giving it a closer look before deciding to purchase either!
You already lose. France is widely known to regulate free speech on the Internet, as it pertains to issues related to WWII and Nazi Germany. Please submit payment to the Internation Red Cross to further relief efforts across the planet. Thank you for your contribution.
I rented it myself, and it's safe in my history, and there is a page for it on the site. http://www.netflix.com/MovieDisplay?movieid=329815
I will say that it was a "Netflix copy". The grey discs that come every once in a while that are made for Netflix. Perhaps they canned those copies in order to get an upcoming real release? If I had known, I would have held onto the disc!!!
As for movies that drop in and out of availibility, that happens a lot for stuff that is about to be rereleased as a Special Edition, and for really rare stuff.
Isn't this going to be close the unique ID numbers that were on chips a few years ago? So a media file or player can check and see what ID proc it's running on, and only ever run on that number again? Where is the outcry now? Don't people care about their privacy and rights? They fought so hard before, but now it's acceptable? People are suckers!
This is the exact type of thing that people were afraid of, when activation was first announced for Windows XP.
We were assured that it would be automatic and anonymous. It just became a lot worse.
Why should MS know when I format my PC? What gives!
Yeah, I have to back this up. When I first joined in 2000, I had the San Fran office, and the turn around was a few days. Later it moved closer to me, and turnaround went to two days then to overnight. Now they moved it even closer, and it's always overnight. Makes it very easy, and worth every penny.
Compared to buying physical CDs in the brick and mortar store, it can be cheaper. Why pay for materials that are not critical to your enjoyment of the IP?
Before it became campaign news, it was freely advertised on the front page of the Selective Service. Sadly, once Kerry and Bush started to fight over it, the proof was quickly hidden. I'm sure there are still articles in major media publications referencing it, and when I find one, I'll post it here.
You're speaking of the bill that was proposed in the house, by a Democrat.
However, before that, Bush had put 10 million dollars into the budget of the Selective Service, and told them to be ready 6 months into his second term.
You better believe it. The night I made my post, I got a call from some girl who was collecting money, and couldn't understand why I wouldn't give. Even though I had given money in a way that was supposed to keep me off such lists for 5 years (until 2006). I wouldn't give money to Wal-Mart, nor Microsoft. RPI is just as big a corporation at this point. Their board is treated like stock holders, and cash out at the end of every business year. Anyone who doubts it should read anything they can get their hands on, about the finances of the school and it's 'trustees'. Such a high percentage goes right into their pockets, instead of back into research, lowering costs to students, etc. Anything to make a buck, these days.
I've heard the comment quite a few times that learning programming languages, and being a good programmer is inherent in people who can also pick up good spoken languages.
When I started to learn German, I started off strongly, making connections to English. Then, I found myself going back to the dictionary, for things I should have been able to remember. Then it hit me one day that I program the same way.
When does this functionality in our brain shut down, and are programmers doing anything to keep it running?
I have to agree. Politics and stupid BS really kill RPI's potential. I left feeling there was so much more that could be done. In a lot of cases, it seemed only postgrad students got anything out of the place, and even that was hampered.
I've been using Dell LCDs for 15 months now, without this problem. I personally use a pair of 18" ones, we have a bunch of 17" and 19" as well. I can not report anything similiar to this. We use a variety of DVI/Digital and analog DB15 connections without any noticable problems. I really think you have either a defective video card, or monitor. We even have dual monitor systems without a problem.
Better look into it
Freedom, freewill, personal rights... all out the window. If the car doesn't want you to drive to the gangster HQ, it won't let you.
What a wonderful world it will be. And of course, if you speed, or run a light, it will lock the doors and drive you directly to the police station.
Yeah, the future is bright..and to think, I'm an optimist.
I would think most Slashdotters would have multiple PCs, and being able to move the device from box to box is why I love mine. laptops, desktops, work PCs, etc.
The Wal-mart factor has an effect, too. They've driven down prices to consumers, which we are used to, but forced the economy around in the process. If we force Wal-Mart to start raising prices, then inflation will make the few dollars we make worth even less. That won't help anything, either.
Monopoly.
Rapid Prototyping at its best.

I think the term you're looking for is actually 'iPr0n'.

Yeah, be careful how much of that stuff you use. What, you think it grows on trees?

Why would the liberals want a fast plane? Is it so they can outrun the defeat in state after state?
