Yes, and imagine the hell (and cost) when all 80,000 users are confused about how to use their computer and half of their complex.doc and powerpoint documents don't work right.
Dynamic update between DHCP and DNS has been around for a short while now. Check out dhcp v3.x I'm setting it up at work right now with Bind 9... But I agree... Everything is in no way as integrated as the windows stuff. It's a trade off between ease of administration and security and stability though.
Well, I know it doesn't really help, but I've got an Vaio R505 (Windows came on it but it's running linux now)... and it runs Linux just fine after some tweaking. http://www.resistive.net/linux7.html
You do vote for YOUR STATE'S congressperson and YOUR STATE'S senator, buy you're also voting for YOUR COUNTRY'S president... And therein lies the difference.
Would the khtml people be "hurt" if apple had used Gecho? Maybe if the Mozilla people are so injured they should look at why KHTML was chosen over Gecho and take steps to improve. Such is the beauty of competition. Maybe the mozilla people aren't aiming for what the Safari people were looking for... Maybe portablility wasn't important as size and speed to the Safari people. Apple adopting an open source browser is ultimately a very good thing, whether it be Gecho, Khtml, or some other open sourch engine.
Microsoft decided to not provide an UI to define default font size in the Internet Explorer. Consider this being equivalent to a TV set without an option to adjust volume. Some web "designers" feel that they have to compensate the fact that the MS engineer decided to specify "too large" default font size. (MSIE does have view-text size menu but it has only 5 choices and in addition the feature has many bugs.)
I'm so SICK of hearing people bitch about this. Maybe you morons should use a different browser if your current shitty one doesn't support such rudimentary features. It's not like there's not better (& free) alternatives out there.
"But I'm at work and we don't have mozilla" download the zip file, extract it to your desktop, and run the executable from there. It works fine.
You obviously know nothing about web development. If specific fonts/font sizes are important to you, configure your browser accordingly.
All/I/ ask is that this is made possible. Some assholes think it's a good idea to incorporate a 6 point font in an all flash website... Making the site totally not accessible to anyone using a resolution over 640x480
Their web page is fine. Imagine you have a computer with no window manager and you want to install one... It's pretty convenient to access xfree86.org with lynx and find what you want.
I challenge you to access microsoft.com from a base install of NT4.0. It's not even possible to find the page to update the browser
I have a *far* easier time trying to find answers for linux. If a google search doesn't do it for me, there's almost always a mailing list I can join and talk ***directly to the developers*** There is nothing like that in the Windows world.
I've also had much better luck finding code/programming examples for Linux. I recently was trying to work with Audio APIs in both OS's and had much better luck with Linux until I found some open source cross-platform code to use w/windows.

No shit. what is your point? Are you trying to argue with me or just trying to repeat what I'm saying for your own verification? Are you even reading what I'm posting here?

Right. I purchased services. I didn't *donate money* to Mandrake. What are you talking about? I wasn't talking about services vs. products. I was talking about donating vs. purchasing. You're off in your own little world.
Oh shut up. Romero has done a log of great work.

It's got snapshots of the fonts. I'll add screenshots when I get around to updating to RH 9
there are patent issues. All you have to do is recompile freetype.

That needs to be updated, but it still applies.
It doesn't matter which filesystems you use if you're sharing across a network. The filesystem is abstracted by Samba/nfs/ftp/whatever.

or links from slashdot apparently.
wha? That's a very us-centric and limited view of the world you have there.
.uk.co and it's brothas are "STANDARD" too.
I can't think of anything that ruins a good joke better than a couple of dumb "tags"
If they don't get it, I say screw em'
I thought dell was selling computers with freedos... or is the corporate desktops only? Anyone know?

Figures. Right after my mod points expire... I couldn't agree more.
Hm, that won't help him at all

Hey yea, maybe monkeys will fly out of my ass, too! People don't buy Macs to run linux.
You evidently didn't read the part about people urinating on them.
You beat me to the punch. Evildoers? Good lord does that sound stupid. Next we'll have spammers declaring jihad on isp's.
Blah, tell me about it. I wish my name was Mike Smith.
I need to start strategically placing impressive lies about myself throughout the net.
