I'd have to disagree. I think video games are a great place for physical activity, but it's rarely done because it usually requires an expensive controller or standalone game.

I was at Dave & Busters a few years ago, and they had this shooting game, where you stood up with a light gun, and do reload/duck, you had to actually duck yourself. Let me tell you after playing that game for 20-30 minutes, that was that best quad worked out I've ever had. My legs were jello for the next 2 days. I've yet to get that kind of workout from a leg lift machine, squats, etc.

There also was this boxing game on the other side that had a similar concept, but didn't play because I blew all my money on the previous game. :) You actually had to duck and throw punches.

I'm sure there's many more ideas that people can come up with, I'd love to see new games like these. Most people are out of shape as it is, putting physical activity with video games would be a great way to get people in shape, and have fun doing it.

Slackware was my first distro as well. I ordered the slackware '96 cd set from cdrom.com way back when. It took memforever to get my video card (stb lightspeed 128?) to work under x.

It came with kernel 2.0.0 I believe, not quite as old as yours. :)

After that I tried RedHat for awhile, which I was kind of happy with, but it was a pain to upgrade. Then RedHat wanted money from me for upgrades, so then my cheap ass switched to debian which solved my upgrade problems and my cheap problem, and allows me to be on the cutting edge with unstable/sid. Some packages are a bit slow to upgrade, but I don't mind manually installing a few things myself.

Which brings up an interesting point. Google is a US based company so it seems it should only need to adhere to US based laws. So what happens when someone living in the UK, pays for an AD? Is Google now considered to be doing business in UK? I think not, unless it has web servers located in the UK.

It seems to me if the UK is unhappy about a foreign business on the internet that its residents are accessing, then it should be up to that country to block them, ala the great firewall of China.

    Just a thought...

This is a repost from a previous article about printers, but I think it applies here as well, and it basically says what I would say in a fresh reply anyway. :)

I'm very happy with my Canon PIXMA iP3000. It's got everything a comsumer would want. Separate print heads and separate refillable cartidges (for each color) that are translucent so you can actually see how much ink is left. It does duplex printing with no extra gear, does borderless photos like a dream, and even comes with nice software to print them out. And to top it off it was only $65 with a $20 mail in rebate, can't beat that. My HP Officejet D135 would have taken way more than that just to fix. It needs a new magenta printhead and all new ink (was out on both color and b&w).

My Canon even seems stingy on using ink. My HP burned through color carts like no tomorrow even though I wasn't even printing anything in color. They're like $35 a pop or something stupid, and you can't buy separate colors. My canon has printed over 150 pages with quite a bit of color on it, and the ink level didn't even seem to flinch.

I've had similar delightful experiences with my Canon digital elph camera. I love that company.
