Actually, you dont want any RAID card, because it limits your upgrade and recovery options. Any modern CPU is not going to have any problems doing memcopy and XORing required for RAID. You do want as much memory as you can afford, especially that memory is cheap now. My little home server has 8GB of memory, it can sink huge write transfers very quickly. It uses 3 laptop SATA HDDs in RAID5 so it can take it's sweet time to write the data to HDD later because it effectively has 8GB disk cache.
I have built little PC do do my file serving. I dont know why they added gigabit port when the dinky CPU was barely capable of couple MB/s of IO. It was 250GB ATA drive and 266MHz PPC with 64MB of memory. My advice: build cheap small PC with Linux and software RAID. (I like software RAID better because you are not tied to particular RAID controller hardware so you can move it to newer system). It is going to be way faster than any embedded crap.
And don't tell them how to do it. Obviously, the deadline you tell them has to be before real deadline/product delivery, allocate at least 20% of extra time. Programming projects never end on time. If there is multiple seasoned programmers working on it, pick one to be a leader that has final say in architectural matters and interface specs, otherwise they will never agree.
Lets see When you move, you don't really need to notify anyone. * Except the DMV. And the DMV change of the address form already contains voter registration. * And except your utility companies * And except the company you work for * And you probably will fill out USPS change of address form so they forward your email * And if you are registered for draft (selective service) (applies to all males between 18-25), US government also wants to know where you are. https://www.sss.gov/RegVer/wfAddressChange.aspx
* And if you are an alien, you should send your AR-11 Alien's Change of Address form
So really, when you move, the US government has completely no idea that you moved, Really.
Just add more memory. I have never seen my linux box with 5GB of memory run out of memory. If you cant add memory just set it to 1x or 2x the memory size. If your working set will be much larger than your available memory your computer will be unusable anyway.
Out of 8A 5V power supply from Halted, some pieces of gray acrylic and blue 7-segment led display amp meter off eBay. It looks like this http://i35.tinypic.com/25p30jn.jpg
I have cut the ends of cables for mini-usb, ipod, samsung phones and other crap I have and made universal connectors inside the box. If I get new gadget with unique connector I just cut the cable, solder universal connector and connect inside the box.
It is 5V only but most of my gadgets are 5V except for stupid sony bluetooth headphones at 3V. WTF?
Sony has just released second generation device,Mylo-2, both Mylo-1 and Mylo-2 are Linux based and locked tight. Where are the kernel sources? GPLed userland sources? Nobody seems to notice or nobody cares.
The last of the great T line of IBM laptops. You could also try Toshiba Portege 3490CT which is pretty much the same hardware in a smaller magnesium casing.
What is it with geeks, all driving hybrids or praising virtues of 4 cylinder FWD econoboxes? I am feeling little down after filling up but I get my SEG back immediately after leaving the gas station sideways.
Palm OS was good for little organizer called Pilot. It totally sucks for multimedia device called Zodiac. I have used Windows CE 2.11 and 3.0 Pocket PCs (Casio Cassiopeias), Zaurus SL-5500 and Tapwave Zodiac. Zodiac hardware is very cool and sleek, but the OS was just killing it. Palm OS deserves to be die. Did I mention the programming model? For ARM based Palm devices? With stupid armlets, and endianess conversion? This is insane! Die Palm Die!
Am I the only one? The article is missing the most interesting part! Please tell me what are the IP address ranges so I can block them on my firewall. I couldnt care less if somebody from China cannot connect to my home network.
GBA SP is small, sturdy (I dropped mine many times and it just reset). Screen is protected from damage, it has great battery life, LOADS of great games (FFTA!), homebrew community.
I bought the PSP. The hardware is undeniably cool. There is total two of decent games - Metal Gear Acid and Untold Legends. Movies are overpriced and I saw almost all of them before. So the thing is gathering dust. I installed bunch of emulators, quake and doom - great games. But Sony is so hostile towards homebrew, which probably is what sells the hardware because official games suck.
Yeah, Fry's is much bigger, has better selection of anything and much lower prices.
I have to give one thing to Micro Center - there was a time when they had very good selection of Loki games. Then Loki went bust and they had a sale and I got several of them for $5 each! Since then selection of linux software at Micro Center became much worse. And I would like to buy VMware in retail store, yet, I havent seen it anywhere.
Micro Center is close to my work so I sometimes shop there but, but it is really a ghost town. The only big ticket items I bought there was iPod and iBook for my wife. But then due to Steve's tight control of Apple retail prices you cannot buy it cheaper anywhere. It is very funny to see Fry's ad in a newspaper showing $3K Apple G5 at 3 dollars off.

Thats a new joke, right?
Imagine the possibilities of new worms and malware using this amazing feature.
They even showed that at the polls and Obama won.
Quite obviously more popular candidate will have more press coverage.
We lack upper body strength to do it for prolonged periods of time (say, more than 2 minutes).

Seriously.
XP is just 2K with ugly GUI. More bloat.
Well that and little fixes for memory manager which I think also made into some SP for Win2K.
Great! Thanks.

Well, Milk Pail Market and Dietmar's Deli are still there near this building so who cares about stupid fruit stand?
There is a movie "Bounce" so forget about your Bounce t-shirt idea.

pwned!
Read it or watch it and you will know.
Piece of shit wrapped in shiny plastic.
While Apple makes some nice products, very often form takes precedence over the function.
Now Apple zealots mod me down.

I looked at DS, but DS is FUGLY!
Now, Gameboy Micro may be interesting.
A cute penguin with x x for eyes would be cool ;-)
I dont know what you are talking about. I find Gentoo refreshingly simple and user friendly and my '04 GTO is a great grocery getter.
