The UI of star trek (at least TNG and onwards) has been horrible. A bunch of numbered buttons with lines going in virtually random directions to displays of other grouped buttons that don't seem to make any sense as to why they are grouped... They look pretty, but there is no way someone would lay out an interface like that and use it daily...
Don't take my word for it, do some googling for actual set shots of the UI... it's upsettingly poorly designed.
Hide in my home until a movie producer finds me? Dude, the only producer who will ever 'find' me is one who decided to deliver pizzas for a night... otherwise, no way in hell I'd be discovered...
Actually, the very, very, very odd thing is that UPN pulled new enterprise shows until April 21st... UPN is owned by parent company Paramount, owned by Viacomm... I find it odd that a lot of Viacomm owned shows seem to have gone on hold until mid April... I'm sure it was just coincidence that all new shows stopped just around the time they expected Dish network to pull their channels... hmmm... where's my tinfoil hat?
So if I pirate it, I go to jail... fair enough... if you send it to me for free, and I don't buy exchange server from you... I will be forced to pirate exchange to get any of it to work, so I go to jail... hmm... If you send it to me, and I say I don't use it... then what?
Microsoft, you had a great marketing strategy, except you decided to assume that people want to use office at all costs... tsk, tsk...
I see... so the holes are only at the poles... cool... Thanks for the info, I'm slightly more enlightened... no, I mean confused... but that's just me...;)
Forgive my ignorance if I'm way off... but is it not possible to do UV work in areas where we have an ozone hole? I was under the (possibly mistaken) impression that the ozone layer is what is keeping UV light out.. so if we have areas where there are no or limited amounts of ozone, would it not allow useful UV from space in to the proper insturments?
Dishnetwork needs to watch themselves, because customers are paying for the CBS and UPN channels, and now they won't be getting them... but I doubt Dishnetwork will automagically reduce everyone's monthly bill... and that my friends is called stealing... I can't wait to see how this pans out.
Trust me, I speak from experience... I've electricuted myself enough times to know that only bad things come of passing electricity through the brain via outside stimulus... (notice my horrible spelling, contrary to popular belief, I used to be good at spelling until I decided to staple a live electrical wire...)
Solar iPod? You'd need about $150 in solar cells just to make the damn thing spin it's HD up. And then there's the logistics problem of the device not having enough surface area, so you'd need to put a huge adapter on it (goodbye small and portable)...
I tried this idea already... thought I could make millions... instead I wasted $150... ugh.
I agree with your views... However, I would suggest we simply get rid of verisign, ICANN, and every other company that can hold the internet hostage. I don't have a good replacement strategy in mind yet, but there's got to be a solution that doesn't leave a single company holding all the cards. Distributed administration of the internet? Is that possible? I don't know, I'm not a network theorist (or whatever the official title for that would be.)... anyone care to explain why we have a single entity in charge?
"hacking" a tivo???? The damned thing has a bash prompt ready to go, just create an adapter from 9 pin serial to 3 pin 3.5mm phone jack... Wow... you're hacking...
These "hacks" are equivilent of script kiddie attacks... they help build stupid peoples' egos... I love listening to how my coworker 'hacked' his tivo... I'd like to see one of them 'hack' a ZKT on a satellite receiver, or spoof an EMI number, or countless other true hacks... not this crap, I followed a step by step hand holding instructional book, and got a bash prompt on my tivo (which was designed to do that in the first place)...
But that's just me... I'm mostly bitter because this is almost the same as when people claim to be software developers when all they do is html... Same word used to describe something with a rediculous range of skill levels...
After paying an arm and a leg for a Plasma screen, I can honestly say that it sucks... worst dollar to value ratio ever. The resolution is okay (I'm not talking about the gateway/circuit city peice of shit that has EDTV resolution)... the picture isn't anywhere near as good as you can get with LCD or DLP... I really don't understand why Plasma still exists!
So, don't complain about your job. At least your products aren't full of piss.
No, just vinegar, you stole all the piss, hence the reason nothing's holding together... can't very well have things held together with piss 'n vinegar, if there ain't no piss... dammit....
See, I used the mentality that if I go fast enough, I'll always be passing someone, and never have to worry about someone passing me, thus no need to worry about a blind spot...Hell, no need to worry about the rear-view mirror either...
One day, I glanced in my rear-view mirror, and there were some flashing lights... I now no longer have a license, or a car... but hey, at least I was a safe driver (although the judge disagreed, hence the lack of driving privelages)... What's wrong with going 215 in a 100 zone? I don't get it...
This reminds me of a previous story where they said something along the lines of, "Now drivers no longer have to worry about blind spots, and can concentrate on driving"... It was in regards to some detection system built into the light poles along side highways.
At what point does the driver get away with, well the beeper didn't sound, so I assumed there was no one beside me... I'm upset at how little people bother to actually pay attention when driving, and relying on some device to warn you if your manuever could potentially kill someone or be safe is just insane!
Maybe I'm old fashioned, and maybe it's the fact I ride a bike in traffic, but I'm sick and tired of people not paying attention while driving, and this is not going to help, it'll make them even lazier...
I propose that any and all spammers be subject to possible castration when caught. No infrastructure required... although verification of actual spamming may be a good idea, I say we fly by the seat of our pants... As a positive side effect, Open relays would be fixed pronto... for many admins would fear for their manhood...
Umm, you are aware that VxWorks runs fine on an x86 based PC? Why muck around with a modem and hacking, when you could install VxWorks on a PC and worry about learning the system, not hacking the hardware.
It ain't free like linux is... so not only are they violating their AUP from their service provider, these guys are using software that they didn't pay for? WindRiver is gonna be pissed!

Bios used to mean, basic input output services. Now I guess it means basically inoperable operating system...

So apparently Outlook Express isn't popular at all. Funny... I guess it's just convinient then...
I hate these biased reviews. Popular would be based on usage wouldn't it???
Why isn't it 3d? Holographic cover would be the LEAST that Lucas could do for making us wait this damned long.
[Peter (family guy) nasal laugh] hahahaha... he said penetration! hahahahaha...

Welcome to reality. You don't honestly think that there are coding jobs out there with good pay, 40 hour weeks, and paid OT, do you?
If you do know of any, please, PLEASE let us know!

overworked coder
Just shorten the story to, Verisign/ICANN being sued for standard business practices...

How much is that in kilos?

Laugh, it's a joke!
