The worst job i ever had, was building a tunnel boring machine for a hydro project, that was down at the bottom of a pit with a waterfall running onto it . my job at the time was to attach the cutting head bolts (6" thick by 2' long and 150lbs a piece. i did this job for 3 days in -5 deg C weather (that below freezing for the metric impaired) in a waterfall, which was only in a liquid state due to the fact that it was moving water. i was sent home the 2nd day because of hypothermia, sent home, as in not to hospital where i should have been sent. and the third day i was fired for climbing out of the pit and going up to the "dog house" as it was known to warm up. Needless to say, i was awarded big $$$ later when i sued for wrongful dismissal and endangerment. so it worked out in the end, i was only 18 at the time, so i healed quick, made all the money i needed for the next years school, but it still sucked..

Ive got news for you.. I am a pilot. I use my cell phone all the time. works fine. The main reason passengers are not allowed to use their transmitters (of any kind) in flight is that it can cause subtle errors in navigation without warning. When i do it, i know that im transmitting, and anticipate strange readings for the instruments and can stop the transmission if its a problem.I cannot anticipate the actions of passengers behind a locked cabin door 20 rows back. but as for the technical does it work aspect? Yes it works. its even encouraged in the event of a comunications failure in flight. I have EXCELENT reception at 20K+ feet using GSM,X1,PCM etc.

  25. Technique on Illicit Leaky Capacitors Killing Motherboards · · Score: 0

The best way to do this is: 1) clip the component off first, this reduces the amount of material that must be heated to melting point of the solder)
once the componant is clipped off. put a small blob solder on the lead(we will clean this off later). this will improve thermal transfer efficancy. then grab you trusy needlenose pliers and thermostaticly controlled soldering iron (no a weller pistol grip gun wont do)
heat up the solder blob you previously placed with the iron untill it melts, then pull out the remain part of the clipped lead.

then using a vacumme desoldering tool (prefered) or solder wick(sub ideal but can work with skill) , clean out the hole VERY CAREFULLY. these are multi layer boards and the inner layers can be cracked by excessive heat.
If a hot air gun is available it helps to pre heat the area before soldering.. (be careful not to over heat. the idea is to reduce the thermal differental this making the peak temperature reached by the iron shorter in duration.
the idea is not to actualy melt the solder with the heat gun but to come within 50 deg or so.)

    Good Luck..
