What do you mean by "we haven't left LEO"? If you mean human space flight, then I challenge you to name another country that HAS left LEO. If you mean unmanned, I would direct your attention to the wide assortment of MEO/GEO experiments, lunar probes, solar probes, planetary probes, comets, asteroids, etc.

WTF are you talking about? Name one piece of military hardware in the Iraqi order of battle that is US made. Harpoon is not one of them. The Iraqis instead use the French-made Excocet which incidently was used in 1987 to kill 37 crewmembers of the USS Stark (launched from a French Mirage F-1).

    Aircraft:

    Mirage F-1 (French)

    Mig-21, Mig-23, Mig-29 (Soviet)

    Tanks:

    T-62, T-72 (Soviet)

    SAMS:

    SA-2,SA-3,SA-6 (Soviet)

    Roland (French)

Beyond that, Iraq's meager Navy are French patrol boats, who could forget their SCUDS (although I don't know if they are Soviet era or Chinese), Soviet APCs, Soviet and French helicopters, etc.

    Where is the US hardware?

How about the defense contractors... they're using linux to design future weapons... What about the movie industry... again using linux for special effects in movies that glorify war. While you are at it, why don't you boycot swingline as I just used their stapler to staple together my report on how best to employ napalm against women and children.

Actually, all of our (American) unmanned rockets are launched on Lockheed and Boeing vehicles. The government owns the launch sites but I seem to recall recently that even that has changed with one of the pads at KSC being purchased by someone. The space shuttle is maintained by a Boeing/Lockheed conglomerate under contract with NASA. And many of our space probes are built at least jointly in cooperation with industry. NASA is the beurocracy (don't mean that negatively) who pays for and manages these programs.
