    How about this?

    #!/bin/env python

    Or to see it in decimal:

    python -c "print 2 ** 25964951 - 1"

    May take a while.

    Slightly offtopic: I have one of these machines and I would give anything to get the IR port working with lirc. The reviews of this machine always make it sound like it's capable of this. You would think that the DVD playing software included (actually a mini-debian distribution with xine) would make use of it.

    Great. That says nothing. Absolutely nothing. As I say in my review, the Oracle's comment is an observation, not an explanation. It's like saying that the reason a car will not work is because it will not go. He has a connection with "the source" - and?

    I thought what the Oracle meant was that Neo was connected to the Source's network. Therefore he could see where everything connected to the source is at any given time. That's why he is only able to see the machines when he is blind. As for destroying the machines in the real world, I guess he somehow uses the connection to make them self destruct or something. Anyway, that's just my interpretation

    OK, I did google it and as far as I can tell Aspect's experiment actually proves Bell's Theorem by showing a violation of locality in the quantum states. However it does not violate the theory of relativity and there is no faster than light communication of actual information. A lot of crackpots talking about paranormal stuff seem to come up on the google search - a good indication that there's nothing especially exciting scientifically.

    I think the best explination i've heard, or at least the one I like the most, is someone said Neo is really just a computer program too.

    One thing that could support this speculation is the fact that Neo now has super powers outside of the matrix (in the meta-matrix, if you will). As far as we know, the only people who can have super powers within the matrix are either computer programs or people hacking in from outside.

    Of course, if my understanding is correct, you may be prohibited from compiling and using the source code. This depends on whether or not you have "improperly" violated a trade secret. The document specifically notes that reverse engineering is proper (or is this only in Denmark?)

    It looks like the real stakes depend on whether or not the original DeCSS writer was obligated to comply with the 'click wrap' license of the Xing decoder. If he was not, and the reverse engineering was "fair", then we can expect DVD players that no longer have to comply with all the restrictions that DVDCSA forces.

    If the code wasn't fairly reverse engineered then I guess we have to do something like the clean rooms used to create new BIOSes a decade or so ago? Anyone figure out how the court determines what country's IP laws apply to this thing?

    What I never have understood is why the raisins aren't expanding? If space is expanding everywhere, it ought to expand the space from one edge of the raisin to the other at the same rate. In this case the raisins would all expand at the same rate and as a whole the bread would appear unchanged.

    Even if particles themselves aren't expanding, since the space between them is they must all be rushing toward each other in order to keep the atomic structure the same. So with all these particles moving to counteract the expansion, isn't there a lot of energy that no one takes into account?
