    Yeah, but the service isn't that great. When I try to traceroute back to my ISP's mail server, it keeps dropping ketchup packets!

    I also heard the transport has put on a few pounds too and has been smuggling data [kilo]grams.

Either way, if you give your 7-year old son Grand Theft Auto for Christmas, then wonder why he's calling your wife a bitch and slapping her on the ass, you're an idiot. Just like every other product that you research, his food, his toys, clothes, you should be researching his video games too!

    That's all fine and dandy, great, a $100 laptop, but you know, you have to worry about the poorer folk who are more apt to sell the $100 laptop on eBay for a slightly higher mark-up so they can get a little extra cash to support their crack habit. The other problem I have with this is more severe than selling a laptop for nose candy funds. It seems the United States of America has fallen to #9 on the most-educated list. What happened to us being the knowledge super-power? If anything, we should stop being so charitable towards other countries since many of them have surpassed us in technology and manufacturing as we're plummeting deeper into stupiderness.

    Is it just me that believes we should fix problems at home first before stretching an arm out to third-world countries?

    I've heard the virus has been in the wild since 2002, but from a developer-stand-point, I have to wonder, why are the development computers being allowed to traverse a DMZ (provided they have one)? It's highly unlikely the virus was brought in on one of the developers. Development computers are for development purposes and should not be subjected to ANY kind of external resource whatsoever. Because of this, there is no control in the content of the media, ergo, this latest mishap with the Korean distros. This is the equivalent of running a high-profile DNA lab test on a park bench in Madison Square Garden while hobos spit at you.

    This is still no excuse for committing illegal acts in another city. Their needs are being met, they have services installed to provide for these people, yet, they are still allowed to roam the city, panhandle, and attempt to "shake-down" local businesses.

    1 - Water, provided in the Astrodome, additional sources being transported in as needed.
    2 - Food, provided in the Astrodome, additional sources being transported in as needed.
    3 - Clothing, being donated to the evacuees by several sources including local and national; both public and private.
    4 - Shelter - *ahem* ASTRODOME.

    While Maslow's Hierarchy is a good THEORY, I suggest you do some reading because what you outlines is NOT what I found. While this is a good THEORY, theories have been proven wrong time and time again.

    Now, stop littering.

    Thanks Cranos, I really appreciate you putting me straight. I'm glad you don't give a "flying fuck" about me, but I'd still help you if you were in peril.

    I think the lesser-intelligent breeds have missed the point of my post. My point is, while alive and not quite so "kicking", I appreciate it if you'd put refuse in the refuse bin and stop discarding it wherever in the streets. Not only does this cause traffic problems, but also health problems when a superfluous amount of garbage has accumulated. See example A: Louisiana.

    I have every sense of reality, but your lack-luster arguement is even less of a reason for these people to verbally, if not, then physically assault shop-keepers in the area when their "needs" are not met. I haven't "tarred" the population, they've done a magnificent job of that themselves.

    ...I was just out at Golden Corral and happened to notice the text on the bottom of my restaurant-issued, plastic, Coca Cola-branded, cup as I was walking down the hall. I turned it over because I wasn't sure what I was reading - was correct. It says, "For Single Use Only" on the bottom. WTF?! Plastic is good for 1,000 years and I'll refill it as many times as possible to make sure Mother Earth benefits from delayed disposal. The only reason that "warning" is there is so I would have to buy another drink or another bottle of water or even another ink cartridge to generate more revenue for the company. If they can't sell containers, they obviously can't sell ink, and you don't see me refilling my refills, now do ya?

    ...with their current track record, we can't afford to sit idly by and watch our equipment be stolen/vandalized. Our corporate area is guarded 24-7 and is complimented by an array of cameras so we can keep an eye on our facilities. Some may see this emergency situation as a bad thing, some may see it as a good thing, but I can only trust people as far as I can kick them. No offense to the rest of the /. community, but we need to protect our assets and see to it that WE still have jobs and homes with a family to go to each night. I understand losing your home, your valuables, and everything that ever meant a damn to you is a serious, life-changing event, but please stop crapping up MY home! There have been reports of people vandalizing the Houston Astrodome, rapes, and "peeping toms" in the female locker-rooms. A few fights have erupted over cots and a vast amount of trash is now blowing freely down Kirby Drive next to the dome. Your homes may be no more, but don't ruin mine! Have some civility!

    The state of Linux graphics is in my opinion, better than Windows. I've had long nights of reinstalling the OS (Windows) just because I had a bad video driver that corrupted the system. Not even restoring the system from a backup helped. But what I am certainly curious about is minimizing the compile time on systems with higher-end video cards. If GPUs can be utilized for sorting processes and some boards contain more than one processors, why aren't we utilizing these high-speed processors to aid in compiling a kernel for our computers? I don't see the problem since audio processing is already being done.

    Why are so many of my friends losing their jobs or outright quitting their jobs just to play this game?

    Why does it cost $60 in the store, only for them to get raped for another $15 every month just to play it?

    Why are there NO single-player conquests in the game?

    Having no single-player mode appears to be the only real marketing strategy behind this game; forcing people to pay the $15/month if they want to play the game they paid $60 for in the first place. It seems so assinine to charge $60 for something that REQUIRES you to play online. The subscription service sucks, you can't transfer characters to other servers easily, billing gets "jacked-up" and all I ever hear are complaints about server outages. When my unemployed roommates aren't yelling about those problems, I'm yelling at them to shut up and forget about the damned Enchanted Cow of Murdoch and that they're arguing and throwing things at each other over some pathetic bewitched bovine. There is a thing called, "over-socialism" and unfortunately, I'm burdened with be astranged from my friends because I no longer take part in what interests them and having to support at least one of them since their mommy and daddy can't contribute. This is a severe problem and as an added point, this unemployment problem my roommates are having has lasted since early March.

    Is there a rehabilitation process for people who are so addicted to this game?

    I recently visited QuakeCon in Grapevine, TX and surprised as she was, one of my roommates started crying over the fact that the ports for World of Warcraft were closed at the router. :-) Finally, peace and quiet. So, for the next 4 days of Quake, Doom, and various other 3D shooters and simulation games, she played Warcraft 3, embarassed the hell out of me, and made life much more painful than usual.
