...their math skills are horrible. Turns out the PSU actually has 1,092.1 watts of power. The "combined" section on the label doesn't equal 66 - it equals 68. My 550 watt PSU is 23% more efficient and if it were the same wattage as mine, would still be 10-11% more efficient than this Enermax-branded paper weight I see before me. It's like driving a suped-up Honda Civic... 400 horsepower, 2 inch-pounds of torque. So what's the incentive of upgrading (more like downgrading) to this power supply???
I didn't say the speakers were made by Apple. Hell, half the parts in a Macintosh come from over seas. So what's YOUR point? Maybe I made my point and you're too much of an idiot to understand it.
Well, it MUST match the designer case and designer monitor and designer keyboard. Not to mention the crappy little clear speakers that look like desktop dildos.
I think Enron said they sold 520 million shares of stock too. Too bad they only had about 15 shares that were being "resold". Point is, this is horribly inaccurate and they should stop this nonsense about how many downloads were made. It's complete bullshit and doesn't have anything to do with how good/bad the product is. The only thing they should have to say is, "Everybody's doing it." Bandwagoning is only one technique in marketing a product, but at 75 million downloads, we're starting to run out of people. What they should be saying is, "75 million users are using the latest version of Firefox." Like others have mentioned, each have downloaded Firefox at least a hundred times since v0.9. So why aren't we resetting the clock? Hardly anyone uses v0.9 any more. The number should reflect what's in use on the net or at least a percentage of people using a Mozilla browser.
I feel a better approach to "marketing" Firefox over IE would be to associate something with the user-base. We're going about this all wrong. It's like trying to sell a car to a girl who's not knowledgeable about them by promoting the exclusive wiring of the differential's locking mechanism and the amount of splines available on each axle. SHE DOESN'T CARE! The car is intended to make the time from point A to point B a lot shorter than walking and all she wants to do is sit in an air-conditioned box and listen to her iPod on the way to her guy's place. If she can do that reliably, safely, and be able to fit in with the rest of the cars on the road, she's doing just fine.
Point is, we shouldn't focus on the many technical aspects of how to go about securing Firefox and the many plug-ins it supports or doesn't support. Users want to sit back and be entertained. And with an entire generation of ADHD-enabled people, we're a bunch of dyslexic wallets with too much money to burn - entertain me. We should be promoting the fact that Firefox is easy to use, a potent weapon in the war on malware (good point since "Defense" is on most people's minds nowadays), and that it's more secure when protecting your identity. -- Good keywords to use to market a product in this age.
75 million "downloads" does not mean there are 75 million users out there. Since 64 million on July 22, they claim another 11 million users? Bullshit. There have been 3 updates in the past 2 weeks, forcing me to download the ENTIRE Firefox package again each time. What this means is, only 3.5 million people downloaded a package of Firefox and of those 3.5 million users, probably about 500,000 were NEW users. I wish they'd stop inflating their numbers and put out a "service pack" instead of WASTING MY TIME AND BANDWIDTH!
Article on MSN mentions nothing about Parkinson's Disease.
"Doohan died at 5:30 a.m. at his Redmond, Wash., home with his wife of 28 years, Wende, at his side, Los Angeles agent and longtime friend Steve Stevens said. The cause of death was pneumonia and Alzheimer's disease, he said."
"Did you know we are sitting on 2 million gallons of fuel, a nuclear weapon and a thing with 270,000 loose parts that was built by the lowest bidder. Kinda makes you feel good dont it?"
...back about 10 years ago, Intel was running commercials on TV - claiming their Pentium systems could produce graphics like Doom III with shimmery water and a life-like gaming experience. Too bad that's handled mainly by the video system. But at the same time, don't misinterpret me, I'm not saying this is handled strictly by the video system, but the CPU speed has little to do with how the GPU processes things.
It's like saying, "buy our windshield wipers because they make your car go faster!" While some lesser-intelligent people actually think this is true, it is not. Get with the program. If you still think it's true, you should post a pic of your car on www.ricecop.com.
I think the main idea here is, you can't sell bullshit to educated users. Most of the users in the world ARE educated, but the problem lies with them being drawn in by the "sparkly" things. So... what I'm waiting for is, "The Green Man Group".
"One who distributes a device with the object of promoting its use to infringe copyright... is liable for the resulting acts of infringement by third parties using the device, regardless of the device's lawful uses."
That's bullshit... that's like saying Smith and Wesson is liable for my illegal shooting spree (mass ass cap-busting). If we can't hold gun manufacturers liable for drive-bys, hold-ups, and freeway shootings, what then? I'm curious to know what benefits the judge or 'other related parties' are getting in return for this ruling.
This is just another nail in the coffin of Firefox since it seems the Mozilla group can't focus on one particular project. I prefer to use Mozilla since it lacks the "fruitiness" and the wuss-level preferences system. To fix that, they should offer a [basic] and [advanced] mode. And yes, I'm quite familiar with "about:config" too. However, the problem is, they're trying to burn both ends of the candle at once. Pick one, stick with it!
And when the Firefox site says, "Join more than 64 million others and make the switch today -- Firefox imports your Favorites, settings and other information, so you have nothing to lose." You have to wonder, every time a new update comes out, why does it force you to download the ENTIRE Firefox package all over again?
"Oh, you need an update? That's _another_ download and one more point for our team..." What a crock.
From the article: 'It's terrible...Everyone is using it, and they don't realize how bad it is. And the Linux people will just stick with it and add to it rather than stepping back and saying, "This is garbage and we should fix it."
And this is where he's completely wrong. Yes, Linux users add to the interface, yes, they add new utilities, but NO, it's NOT garbage! Linux is an excellent alternative to Crapple and Microshit, has a plethora of tools for productivity, analysis, and features stability that most other OSs can't offer. However, at the same time, I'm concerned about all the different flavors of Linux. This is something Microsoft got right. They limited their distros to 5 flavors of XP; Lite, Home, Pro, Corporate, DataCenter, and are making a killing in the market.
With Linux, there are what... a hundred or so? I have no idea what the others do, how they work, they vary in appearance and capabilites and offer so many "in-depth" tools that the common user won't know what the hell they're looking at! So, in one way, he's right, but I can't totally agree with his philosophy of Linux users being losers. He needs to pull his head from his ass and look at the world from our perspective. Journalists...
Windows 2000 is pretty much the same thing as XP, only with less animations and less "pretty" icons. It's stable, cost-effective, and compatible with all our hardware. What could possibly justify my expense for Windows XP when everything works right as it is?
To top it off, smaller companies who aren't quite large enough to qualify for discounts, are stuck having to pay the insanely inflated prices for Windows XP, and at one license per system/seat, that's waaaay too expensive!

...and here come the consumer and privacy advocates... maybe they'd like to watch commercials about voting? ;-)

If MS is adding support for IDN, I'm really going to stick with Mozilla. Does anyone remember the IDN spoofing exploit from Firefox on February 7, 2005? http://secunia.com/multiple_browsers_idn_spoofing
Let's hope MS caps this hole before it happens. Unfortunately, MS has a reputation for adding bugs along with new features.
