    I often feel that way when Slashdot posts a story about an interesting tech and several people go for an easy karma score by bringing up cliched points about privacy, people being stupid, or that it costs too much even though prices ALWAYS drop.

    Actually, this one is.

    Opera takes up the exact same reeal-estate as IE, with ads. I'm not kidding. Take IE, have only the File tab, address bar, and the row of navigation buttons (i.e. no links bar or anything like that) and that's it. It has been a while, but I don't remember Mozilla using any less space.

    It's esay to rationalize not using something. What good is that? Just try it. If you don't wanna, that's fine, but that doesn't give you a whole heck of a lot of authority to say how worthless it is. There's a reason Opera zealots such as myself are zealots.

    a.) The gov't has you by the balls anyway.
    b.) That info makes crime harder to get away with.

    This is just a rumor. What kinda bugs me is that Slashdot rejected another rumor that was far more interesting. That rumor was that the next Nintendo system may come with a VGA port. That may or may not be true, but I think most of us here would appreciate how cool that'd be.

    No it didn't. Analog sticks were a lot more expensive, required precious CPU resources, and really weren't practical for something like the NES because they were too big. Don't forget that the original NES came with 2 controllers, a Light gun, and 3 games.

    The ratio of good to bad with regards to TV is utterly irrelevent. There are a few shows on TV I like watching. If they added 1,000 shows a week that failed to interest me, it would not de-value my cable bill in the slightest.

    If you're not sporting an underwear tent about it, fine, but how 'interesting' is this point really? More channels means better chance of finding something you like. This is good, not bad.

    What would you do with fiber that'd beat lower cable/satellite bills (competition) and more choice about what content you get? Maybe I'm just unimaginitive, but the differenc between the 3 megabits I'm getting now and the 10-30 I could get isn't very interesting.

    Heheh. I have a question. Both times I've travelled internationally, I noticed nearly all the movies were from the USA. Now this is far from scientific, but it left me with the impression that movie making wasn't as exciting an industry in other countries. I just wanted to ask: Are any other countries (particularly non-English Speaking) enjoying a large movie-making industry? Or is the USA the main exporter of movie content?

    I guess what I'm really asking is: Can somebody enlighten me about the inter-national movie industry?

    Alternatively: How can we trust FireFox if any old fool can go in and install exploits into the source code?

    (Actually, I'm genuinely curious as an answer to that. I don't know much about OSS development, and I imagine people like me have a similar concern.)
