You might think such an act qualifies as "distribution" but I'd say it does not since the number of copies in the world is not increased. It is Red Hat under these circumstances, not us, who must offer the source, since they are the makers of the CDs (hence the distributors).
Otherwise, Egghead Software would have to distibute source with the box you bought from them, eh? In reality, the mention of the URL for download is generally considered enough, and that's already on the CD.
Right now, I'm setting up a 486 25MHz laptop with 250MB harddisk. I don't expect X to go nicely, but it is as fast as any computer on plain console (links, mc, vim).
Use that 486 as a terminal off of your k6-2. You'll probably never see the difference between the speed of the two.
Life is to short to spend it splitting hairs with pointed-headed fools who would rather engage in personal attacks than in an honest exchange of information.
Ignorant is not an attack. I did not call you an idiot. Ignorant simply means you don't know the facts about the debate. You are not qualified to rebut the poster as you did.
As for the shiny new login... I had read slashdot for two and a half years before I registered (two years ago)
It doesn't really matter, since "sylabuses" is an accepted plural form of "syllabus" for the Cambridge crowd. You can say viruses, but man it sounds damn wrong.
I think what you mean to say is "Religion is used as a pretext to start 90% of all wars." It's really about selfish ambition. The Crusades were about land and loot, not christianity, and Osama uses islam to further his call. Kind of the same way some humanists use science to bring down hate upon people who are religious. The core texts of every major religion preach peace. Poeple, however, suck.
Unless you can differentiate The Catholic Church's, Luther's, and Calvin's stances on this, you are too ignorant about the debate over original sin to even comment on this.
This will sound utterly stupid to you, but consider the Army, if you are in the US. I joined a few years back, they paid off my student loans and paid me a large cash bonus, which killed the rest of my debt. I got to do some really cool things for a few years and then get out. Worked out well for me.
"Hey man...You know... but, if I like, watch HBO without paying for it, it's not like I really took anything. I mean, if I took your stereo, you know, you wouldn't have one anymore, but when I, like, attach a cable to my neighbor's house, he still gets it, so it's not stealing, you know?" What did you say? Federal crime? Oops, I failed in my satire. I spelled correctly and my apostrophes were right, as well. I'll have to try harder next time.
"The term IE can be used in different contexts to mean different (kinds) of code," he said. "There is no known definition... where it is clear you know (exactly) what somebody is talking about."
Anyone else look at this and flashback to the question of "what is is?"
Ok, before I open my mouth here, I work with Japan's technical advisor to Thailand. The major problem with Japan is that big business controls everything. More so, even, than in the US.
I know this is a little out of left field, but I really like the KDE setup menu, where they ask a simple question - are you familiar with a Windows, MacOS, etc... interface, and which of these themes do you want. I think they should ask some other simple questions about languages and develop a mini tutorial on that interface choice and how to use it. Then, if the user uses only KDE apps, they know how to do everything.

What's next? During a deposition, Gates starts lying about those missing minutes on the tapes? Resign and have Paul Allen pardon him? Then we have 7 or 8 years of "Free Code," disco, and drugs?
I know you were joking, but you have stolen my attempt at an intelligent post. If you look at this, not from a lawyer's stance, but from an accountant's, the depreciation on the machine includes the OS it was puchased with, and the write off of the still undepreciated value includes the software. If you are not reporting the donation on your taxes, then it doesn't matter, but businesses et.al. should send the license alond with the computer.

Sorry...That's what I get for reading slashdot at 1:00am with nasty flourescent lights. My bad Dan

I think Plex86 is dead of its own accord. The CVS is about 10 months old.
I think it's high time some people get together and start to think about a network filesystem that addresses all the issues.

Do you actually remember the news media before the alternate viewpoint rule was lifted? Man, things have changed.
In KDE this is accomplished with Alt-F2: just type in the URL and . Don't even need the mouse!
