MC Hawking, infamous gangster scientist nerdcore hip hop star, has already laid claim to the "GTA was written about me" idea. And did it ten years ago in "GTA3" on "A Brief History of Rhyme: MC Hawking's Greatest Hits"
What this says to me is that Amazon is routing/tunneling the traffic from the web browser on the Kindle through their servers. If the browser on the Kindle (WiFi/3G) were to access banned sites directly, they'd be hitting the Chinese content firewall.
The moon will also be knocked out of it's orbit, sending the doomed crew of British and American astronauts living at Moonbase Alpha hurtling through space and time, only to suffer horrible deaths at the hands of television executives a scant 48 episodes later.
So this material is likely to be somewhat stable at room temperatures & pressures because it's in a metastable state. But I'm thinking that nitroglycerin also falls into that category...
So, make your firm attractive to a buyer, and make sure you get publicity so that you're known in the industry, and maybe... someone will make you an offer.
I used to write software that ran on equipment that had to pass UL 1069 (Nurse Call equipment). One of the tests is a temperature test -- the server had to operate normally at elevated temperatures. This was to simulate a server forgotten in a linen closet, with it's cooling system blocked by 3 years of dust & lint.
We tested every major brand on the market, and IBM eServers were the only ones that didn't start acting "strange" after a while. In our usage, "strange" was a significantly worse failure mode than "broke outright".
There is a solution to USAF's lack of ability to retain technical knowledge, and that's to use the Warrant Officer ranks that got dropped back in the 1950's. These not-quite-officers were supposed to be technical experts in their field, and were not in the chain of command.
The other thing, which I pointed out back in the CyberWarfare thread, was that Airmen get promoted by passing skill tests. The tests get prepared far in advance, which means what you're being tested on is ancient history, so far as technical knowledge is concerned. Should be easy to pass, right? Except it's probably stuff you haven't worked with for a year or more, so you aren't going to do so well.
I was in the pet store, they had a machine that engraved ID tags for your dog or cat. I was apparently too close to the machine, and it's RF caused my iPhone to freak out, making it ring randomly, vibrate, and the display went crazy.
I had to go far out into the parking lot before I was able to do a restart of the phone. If it'd been just about any other phone, I would have just pulled the battery.
Well, at least they don't have access to PowerPoint.

Anyone who needed ZDNet to tell them this clearly hasn't been on Digg very long.

I expect what they mean by "decaying" is that the people who know how to do this analysis are dead and/or retiring.
It's not a high-demand skill, after all (thankfully).

an Energy Dome from DEVO.
Would have saved them all that construction time and helped in the fight against bad spuds.
Got a real hot babe going thru the scanner here.

Or, at least that has been my experience.

The CEOs of AT&T, Verizon, et.al. saw what happened to the former General Motors chairman, and would rather keep their jobs, thank you very much.

Another vote for Deutsches Museum. Awesome place - easily a two day trip by itself.
I have a photo of me standing inside the core of a CRAY-1, and another standing next to the operator console of a System 360.
Check their operating times before going -- if I recall correctly, they tend to close on religious holidays (ehh, Bavaria!)

sounds like. Moderate resolution, highly portable, not super expensive.

Hardware has significantly smaller margins than software, especially for commodity hardware like their AMD-powered servers.
Software, OTOH, can have amazing margins.

before Oracle closes it because of low margins.
Nevermind the obvious synergies and benefits you get from controlling the entire stack -- from CPU to system software to applications. See: APPLE

Please keep an eye on your roofing contractors, so they don't burn it down like happened with David Garrick's 18th century mansion.

I own a MacBook Pro that was built in the timeframe and has the NVidia 8600M GT GPU. ... yet.
Mine has not failed
Is there a general recall on this, to where I can get one that won't be failing unexpectedly?
