  1. Speaking as a person. on EZTree Shuts Down · · Score: 1

Who uploaded as much as I downloaded and also donated money to keep the site going I am sad to see it go. Yes there were some torrents up their that were from bands that do not allow taping but the majority was from bands that do. It is too bad. But there are sites that strictly monitor what is being shared so it does not infringe on the artist. furthernet.org and bt.etree.org are two that come to mind. I used to trade tapes of Grateful Dead shows. You had to first hook up with someone who either taped shows themselves or someone who knew someone. Then you usually had to buy tapes by the case and mail them to that person hoping they would send them back relatively soon. I see the trading of shows as a form of killing the bootlegger. I only download unreleased live recordings. I make it a point to purchase studio recordings of the artists I like. Hopefully easytree will work things out and get back online.

I have had very little problems. That is worth it's wait in gold.

Even though this is flamebait I will respond to this. I have listened to Stern for sometime and he is much more than "boobies". I think you have him and Homer Simpson confused. Yes there is that part of the show but there is much more to it. Howard provokes people to talk about things they would never discuss on other talk stations. Yeah at times he centers around sex but what guy doesn't. I feel he asks the questions that people seem to think are "politically incorrect". He has stated that he thrives on confrontation. It gets ratings. People listen. And most of the time it is very funny. I have read both his books and found them to be great. His movie was great also. What I think is great is his fight to rid my country of our illegitimate President. Though Howard has supported Republicans before and also helped them get in office with his influence on the swing vote he sees how morally wrong the Bush Administration is. It is a shame other Republicans cannot see this. It isn't a matter of party anymore to Americans like myself. It is a matter of whats right and what is wrong.

made me take a look at OSX. I had tried Linux but did not have the time to devote to really learning it. After talking with a Apple rep at CompUSA and a few people I knew who were using Mac's I ended up buying a g3 iMac. I was the right price, and if I didn't like it it seemed that they were still fetching a good price on ebay. I did end up selling it but now I own 2 macs. One 17" fp iMac and a 12" powerbook. MS Office X and Toast were the only programs I needed to buy since everything else I needed was already there. As for the price, I don't think that the prices were too high considering the software that comes with these Mac's.

to you that the ibook is the low end. No one claims that an 500mhz g3 is as fast as an XP. This whole topic is getting really old. It's like the arguement "Well my dad can beat up your dad!". I switched because I like what Apple had to offer. I wanted to run Linux on my PC but I guess I wasn't bright enough, or I did not have the time to devote to it. OS X gives me the ability to do some of these things. I have bought 3 macs since nov 01. My first was a g3 iMac to test the waters. Then I bought the 17" FP iMac with the superdrive and was able to sell the g3 iMac for a very reasonable price since is was a year old to a friend who wanted to try switching. I now also own a iBook so I can be portable. I can go to my local Borders Books, connect to the wireless network at the CompUSA next door and download, etc and enjoy my coffee. I guess my point is I have no problem with the performance of any of my macs. I have noticed that compared to my Windows experience, OS X has been a dream come true as far as problems. I don't have any. I think this fact is worth the trade of having a "faster" pc. Also, the only app I did purchased was Office. Either I was able to do everything I wanted with what came with my mac or there was an open source alternative that was ported to OS X. Use what makes YOU happy. Isn't that what really matters?

my g3 iMac I bought last november that I bought myself one of those 17" flat panel iMacs when they came out.
The g3 was the first Mac I ever had. After years of dealing with Microsoft and their "upgrades" I decided to make the switch.
Office was the most expensive part. As for cost of the Mac I don't think it is very steep for the software that comes with it. In fact Office and Ircle was the only pieces of software I had to buy. OS X came with just about everthing else I needed.
I think it would be crazy not to really consider buying a Mac when your time comes to get another computer. Best favor I did for myself in a long time.

and I agree with a comment that someone had posted then. They basically said that the demand for OS X on x86 just shows that people are not happy with their present choices (except those of you not using Windows.) I do not see Apple switching. I do not think you could put a Pentium 4 or Athlon in one of those new iMacs due to heat. Also, OS X runs great on Macs. One reason being that there aren't many different configurations to support. Imagine what it would be like to support clones. I just made the "switch" recently. I have a 800mhz G4. I am very happy with the performance. I love the bundled apps that came with it also. I had no problem with the price when I purchased my Mac (2k) and now that I have been using it for a few months I have found that it was well worth the few extra dollars I spent compared to a pc with the same features. If anyone asked my advice about a new computer, I would not hesitate to recommend a Mac.

Actually you are wrong about car codes not being standard. Since 1996 they have been. ODB2. Being a mechanic I should know. The big reason for the standard is so the mechanics don't have to shell out the cash for a diagnostic unit for each car. Snap-On charges 2k or more for these devices. And the snap-on unit can read everything (except heavy truck, you have to get a Pro-Link or a laptop with manufacturer's software). You just have to update the card each year. Heavy trucks are not standardized.
