    USB 3.0 fits these requirements plus its backwards compatible, does light peak? Somehow I doubt it.

    If light peak offered 20x faster than USB 3.0 then id be all for it, for double the speed...please.

    The difference between NASA and spacex is spacex is doing their test launches without taxpayer money. If a rocket fails it fails on their own dime so they better learn something from it...and they do. Thats why launches 4 & 5 worked fine..duh!

    It should not bother anyone to have failures BEFORE success, how many times did Edison fail with the light bulb? several thousand. How many years did it take the wright brothers to perfect glider control with three different glider models before they created the first airplane (four). The Apollo 1 fire was an example of a catastrophic failure, however it paved the way for later success.

    Now compare that with the challenger and columbia diasters both times NASA knew about the design problem ahead of time and failed to act. Management both times ignored the warnings of the engineers.

    When something doesnt succeed its a failure, if you knew it might fail and you didnt do anything about it thats screwing up

    It was never the intent of DRM to stop hard-core pirates, DRM was made to stop casual piracy, the "Oh can I borrow your game" where 1 copy of a game gets installed on five different peoples computers. The MMO people figured out a way around that, pay for play....people will pay for something they see a value in.

    optical scan, personally I never understood the motivation for touch screen voting other than gee whiz technology.

    When they proposed touchscreen voting to replace punchcards in palm beach county, it cost $20 million while optical scan cost 2 million.

    When voters demanded a paper record for recounts it turned out to be cheaper to implement optical scan than to equip
    touchscreens with printers.

    Sure voters may undervote but at least its their own damn fault and not because of some computer error or dirty tricks.

    That triggers people to get their computer cleaned.

    If someone really smart were gonna write a rogue program, they would create a program that does exactly what its supposed to but also
    does X in a blackbox, x being whatever sneaky thing you want it to do. That X only taking up say 10% of cpu cycles and a like small
    amount of bandwidth. It would keep less sophisticated rivals off the computer to keep the computer running fast. If someone's computer is "running fine"
    then they dont clean it and they recommend the rogue program to their friends.

    In competition No the playing field isnt always level, some teams are way better than others and even the good guys will lose quite often BUT
    at least everyone in theory is playing by the same rules.

    Google is winning because people like their search engine, it works and even 6 year olds can and do use it.

    Microsoft often won, and they got in trouble for this, because they owned many of the playing fields and made the rules and told the teams they sponsored about hidden ways of getting an edge on their fields that werent in the rulebook.

    I dont really care if Microsoft is selfish as long as they play by the rules and make good products...because Microsoft does make some very good products. Microsoft Publisher is a very good product, there is nothing in open source that comes even close.

    The law only gives congress the authority "To establish post offices and post roads", it does not require that the post office deliver the mail or transport the packages. The post office frequently contracts mail transportation to third parties and could just easily contract out mail delivery or even legally eliminate home delivery if congress allowed it to.

    My handwriting is poor and slow and well below my academic level, as a child it left me frustrated and sad and hampered my ability to complete assignments in school.

    The computer has been my liberation, I enjoy writing with a computer in a way I could never do longhand.

    Spelling hasn't declined because of the computer, spelling has declined because teachers don't enforce it anymore.

    Spelling, grammar and handwriting are three different topics. My handwriting has always been lousy, but that has nothing to do with grammar or spelling.
    I was in the top 10 in my schools spelling bee, but I got a D on my grammar tests.

    There is no such thing as implied work for hire, it must be expressly written in the contract, if its not clearly written that it is work for hire...its not.

    Im sure the client would happily have included a work for hire clause if they could have.

    The fact that its a virtual is irrelevant to copyright, if the client had simply deleted the work, there would be no case. Not having a backup is clearly
    the authors fault.

    However putting on another site clearly violates the authors rights. Of course remedies would have been limited had the openlife person not ignored the takedown notice.

    The openlife owner is a moron for not taking it down. Its not a "private" matter if an author of a copyrighted work tells you are showing his work on your server/3d world/website/blog without permission.
