1) Copyright extension renewal required. If you or your heirs dont care enough about your copyright to file paperwork and send in a check to cover the costs of copyright preservation then you dont get one.
2) All copyrights from this point on come with a set date of copyright expiration at filing that cannot be lengthened beyond that date.
If a netbook comes out at $99 or less, its an impulse buy like a CD player or a ipod nano. If it sells stores will carry it regardless of what microsoft wants.
People are not gonna buy an $80 netbook to run microsoft office 2010 , they are gonna buy it to surf the internet and check their email and maybe play bubble trouble or watch some flash videos, and chat with their friends, and maybe even do some skype calling.
In the year 2010 , the military performed the last of their life support experiments on Captain William "Buck" Rogers. In a freak mishap he was lost...only to be found 500 years later.
The Iraqi scuds were a serious threat at least in 1991. One did hit a barracks in saudi arabia and kill 28 american troops. The ground war in 1991 was delayed a week so that the US could hunt down the scud bases.
"A 45 year old typewriter looks good on display and most probably still types perfectly well. A 4 or 5 year old Dell will be a pile of plastic dust with an exploded lithium battery"
So the reason why noone has heard us, is not because noone is out there, but is because our technology for interstellar communication still sucks. Oddly enough that makes me feel much better about the chances of finding someone out there....eventually.
A 128k mp3 can sound MUCH better with better quality DSP hardware and better quality speakers/headphones.
The best investment I made for listening to music was investing in a klipsch 2.1 speaker set. Modern motherboard HD audio is pretty decent but using $10 speakers it all sounds like crap.
I have a 32 inch 720p lcd tv and a 24 inch 1080p monitor. I also have a blu-ray player and hdmi. While yes I can see the difference between upscaled DVDs and blu-ray discs, its simply not worth paying triple the price for the blu-ray.
The problem is not the blu-ray discs the problem is the blu-ray player does such a good job at upscaling DVDs that on most 32 inch and smaller tvs it is "good enough" that you dont feel the need to spend the money to replace the DVD disc.
What the blu-ray fanatics arent saying when they describe about how their friends eyes are popping, is they are comparing watching their blu-rays on 72 inch lcd tvs versus watching non-upscaled dvds on an sdtv, the PS3 does not automatically upscale dvds unless you have the correct firmware and have the settings set for it , oops they didnt tell you that did they?
They also didnt tell you that upscaling on a ps3 is not as good as many regular upscaling dvd players let alone standalone blu-ray players because the system doesnt do that much postprocessing. Why would that be?
I guess sony doesnt really want people seeing upscaled content, that doesnt sell blu-ray discs does it?
Oddly enough the governor who decided to scrap touchscreen, Charlie Crist, was a republican, who apparently wasnt fond of his Republican predecessor Jeb Bush.
Now Florida votes using optical scan ballots which we should have done in the first place.
Just because a company holds a patent you dont like doesnt mean they are a patent troll.
3com may have very well held legitimate patents that were routinely and widely violated, they sold the patents because it wasnt worth the effort to sue patent violators.
These are not software patents, they are regular old style patents.
They are not suing open source, they are suing large well funded companies that made healthy profits using the technologies these patents were based on.
In any event the patent they are referring to expires in three years so if they are going to sue its now or never.
Something happens on the space station and for some reason the station cant communicate with earth...whos in charge?
The station commander.
In an emergency he would make certain decisions such abandon the station or stay put.
While ground controllers can give direction, you always want to have someone on site who can actually
act on those directions and tell people what to do. A station commander is not for things you expect, its for the things you dont expect.
unless you found something in those oceans....duh!
If you found even microbial life in Europas oceans , it would prove the existence of life beyond earth. No it would not cost $100 billion to do that mission because it doesnt need to be a manned mission...yet. An unmanned probe can be sent and if life is not found or is found at the microscopic level then its wonderful science but not anything we need to spend 100 billion on.
If an unmanned probe can make it into those oceans and find life beyond the microscopic level...thats a game changer. Finding alien flora and fauna on a world in our own solar system would justify a manned mission to study it. At that point a manned mission would have all the funding it needed.
Its time to inject sanity back into the discussion.
The point the original poster was making is that gasoline is portable and easy to replace/refuel albeit at a cost while batteries take much longer to charge even on rapid charge. While his use of terminology was wrong , his understanding of the issue was correct.
Ive been in many slashdot discussions (hence my 5 digit slashdot id) where slashdot users proclaim their profound and often wrong knowledge of the law/psychology/political theory/education yet nonsense will continue to fly.
The fact that someone has a degree in computer science does not make them an expert on anything except computer science...and maybe not even that. If they seriously equate their knowledge with that of Leonardo da Davinci...they better be ready to show it.
That there is no way of modding you up to 6. Im still laughing my ass off.

Considering stewart has been divorced twice and dated and married ladies hes worked with. I doubt it.
Id release microsoft works under an LGPL license.
Dont be a micromanager. Just be there for the employees and let them know that its okay to ask for help.

The target audience of Chrome OS isnt people who own macbooks or play pc games.
The target audience is people who use gmail or yahoo mail and play
flash games and want a cheap and cheerful internet station.
Its like trying to sell BMW and Lexus owners a Vespa. Of course they dont need it.

There now fixed it for ya ;-)

Adding 3com networking know-how to HP computing products may actually produce better products?
Hey it could happen!
I would be far more concerned if a speedometer was showing 4-6 mph UNDER true speed
but the chinese can.
What the US needs to get back into the space race is a good old fashioned nose tweaking.

Dont laugh so fast...Some rich nerdy guy can buy a seat for himself and some hot chick prescreened
not to have space sickness.
For the small, small price of 40 million dollars he can make himself a legend.

Hmmm....
Chicago hot no beaches, good pizza, but weve already done olympics in the US in 1980, 1992, 1996, 2002 plus now they have
screwed up passport control.
Madrid- Its pretty but in the summer its hot as heck...plus Europe already got the games 2004,2006, and 2012
Rio- Never gotten the games before and south america is culturally vibrant....holy crap did you see the hot brazillian girls in those string bikinis!
