  1. Re:Old news on Mathematicians Solve the Mystery of Traffic Jams · · Score: 1

The point i am trying to make is that strictly implemented Speed Limits do make the roads safer.

The Think Drive ads from DVLA make one think.I still remember the one where they compared the survival rates of pedestrians hit at 30 mph and 40 mph.A real eye opener.

Of course , if one put a gatso in an accident black spot ,it would reduce the number of accidents.

My contention is that strictly implemented road safety policies do reduce accidents.

Tough titties you stuck up self-absorbed idiot....Sorry Just taking the piss :) ....The thing is if you live in society ,you live by its rules. What you think about catching traffic violations with cameras is irrelevant..what matters is that the vast majority of Society accepts them with the ill grace with which children accept their parents rules :)

IMHO,strictly implemented Speed Limits and the fear of traffic cameras(and the ensuing 3 points) ensure that most of us imaginary hamiltons dont end up killing and maiming more people than do currently.

I dont know about the US , but in UK i think revenue cameras add ,rather than detract from our overall safety. After all ,i do drive slower (and cautious) when i see a camera sign on the A40!

The ISS is an expensive and elegant solution where it would have been better to have a cheap and cheerful solution like MIR.

I lived in Singapore for 4 years circa ~ 97 to 2001.Yes you are not allowed to throw any Gum on the street ,not to spray any graffiti on Walls, not to make a nuisance of your self on the public transport system, not to play your music too loud in your home.Being a small city state has its advantages, there is no place in Singapore where you cant go with complete safety at 3 in the morning.

I have now lived in London for 7 years.Unlike the Small Crypto Fascist State ,We have a great range of Human rights here.

Therefore when i go home on the Tube ,i have to sit on dirty seats because people sit with their feet resting on seats ,listen to rude language and loud music(Freedon of Expression) ,Watch the coucils fight a losing battle with the ever increasing amount of irritating and franky nausious grafiti(Banksky it isnt).

I also have the complete Right not to venture to Brixton,Camden and Various Council Estates unless i want to be mugged ,happy-slapped whatever by gangs of 12 -13 year old kids.

I also have the complete freedom to see Children coming to the local mall after school and stealing AND then telling the Police to lay their hands off this because , get this ,THEY HAVE RIGHTS.Meanwhile, Mr Patel can go to the insurers or Retire, His Choice entirely ,after all he does live in a free country.

There is a Difference between Paper Rights and Actual Rights.Guess Which place had a Higher quality of Life IMHO.

  5. A Linux Computer on a bootable USB disk? on Linux Computer in USB Key Form-Factor · · Score: 1

Is it possible to have a computer on a 2 GB USB key?I move a lot and i dont want to carry a laptop for my personal use. The main reason i want a usb computer is to use the internet and avoid having to carry /remember a load of logins/Passwords and have my browser set just so.I wondered if i could have something like ubuntu's live CD but with my tweaks and modifications.

So the questions i have are this:

Do most modern BIOS support USB booting?

Is it possible to fit one on a key that size?

    Which Linux should i install?

I think its about one's perspective on life.A high salary still means that you are working for somebody because you probably eschew risks and prefer the sense of security of working in a corporation.

Women aren't disinterested in making money ,they just approach the problem in a different manner.Women are much more likely to start Small businesses i.e. they tend to take more risks not less.
