Actually, I think that any company that bought into Microsoft Licensing 6 and got SQUAT would relish the opportunity of reversing the tables on Redmond and seek something for their money.
1. Contact List
2. Memo Pad (I like to jot down things)
3. Calendar/Schedule
4. Games, with halfway decent resolution.
I bought a Palm IIIx about 4 1/2 years ago. Upgraded the memory. It still works great, although the screen is a little worn.
I bought a refurbished Palm IIIxe for $35 a couple of months ago. I still love the IIIx line.
Cellphones make crappy browsers, crappy memopads, crappy schedulers, and crappy game platforms. Add to that, you typically can't sync them with your PC, and I tend to switch providers (and thus phones) almost annually, and I can't ever see a cellphone becoming a suitable substitute for a PDA.
Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE that I know that uses a PC for their business needs QuickBooks for payroll and bookkeeping chores. There is NO linux alternative yet.
I know a lot of small business owners, and I always get the call when viruses or spyware are causing them headaches, but once I see QuickBooks on their system, I don't even mention linux as an alternative. There's no point.
Apple is another matter. They just don't want it for whatever reason, but I have no experience with it, so I'm in no position to debate.
Slackware (inthe form of ZipSlack) was my first experience with Linux. While I can't say it was love at first sight, it did encourage me to come back for more. I currently run 9.1 on my Toshiba laptop, and couldn't be happier.
Can anyone say whether this release addresses or patches the latest kernel bug?
Don't know whether you were looking for a "Funny" Mod or not, but.....
I only tried the first review, but generally, if you look for the "Format For Print" link (or something similar), all of the pages of the article appear in a one page window.
Patents are largely an American obsession. The wealth generated from inexaustable hydrogen-based energy sources would easily outweigh any patent-infringement fears from a non-US producer (read: China?).
As soon as "The Return of the King" fades to the rental market and the entire trilogy is released in extended, one-disk, full-length viewing format, I'll be there with credit card in hand! Until then, BFD.

Just my flamebait opinion.
1. The only replacement for Windows on the desktop is Mac OS X. Linux is not that replacement
Wrong! Mac OSX will not run on any desktop computer currently running Windows.
Linux wil run on most, if not all desktop computers currently running Windows.
I know what you meant, but it isn't what you said.
Actually, you can copyright Niagra.
Niagara is in the public domain.

Did you ever lose a book?
(Reply) Yeah, bummer.
Did you ever lose a (insert favorite processor-driven digital storage/read/write/display device)?
'Nuff said?
Emacs! No, vi! No, Arrrrrrgh!
The fact that Dell is supporting any linux distribution is what's significant here.
By supporting linux as the OS as a vendor, you automatically guarantee hardware support for at least one distribution.
Or any variation. I use Volkov Commander for DOS/WIN, and Midnight Commander
for linux. It fits on a floppy-based rescue disk. My personal favorite.

I once borrowed lectures by Stephen Hawking, and Richard Fineman from a friend. The Fineman ones were great, but I can't find a link.
Correctly Spelled: Richard Feynman
What am I missing?
Nothing. You pretty much nailed it.
From what I read Brown has a B.A in English Literature... WOW, this is so not impressive.
Agreed. The first thing I noticed is his use of the non-word "noone". Clearly he meant to use the phrase "no one", but may have been pressed for time.
Obviously not the next Hemmingway!
We heard you the first time.

Maybe they are selling the boxes at below Suggested Retail, but at a loss. . . Doubtful.
I'll believe that Microsoft is losing money on every X-box sold when the balance sheets are published.

Little Johnny was a chemist.
Little Johnny is no more.
'Cause what he thought was H2O.
Was really H2SO4
More to the point: How long do people actually plan on using a PDA? Who is still carrying around a five year old Palm?
I'm still carrying around a 5-year old Palm IIIx (not xe) with an extra flash ROM/RAM card from (then) TRG. It still works fine for me.
I've been waiting for a Linux-based, Open Hardware platform PDA with built-in WiFi, and enough battery life and memory slots to be somewhat useable.
Maybe the Zaurus SL6000 will fill the bill. We'll see.

FreeDOS does not support USB, for one. Any current, major Linux distribution does.
I don't care. A comparison of the cost of similar Dell PC's with and without Windows XP Home Edition is the selling point here.

Plus, you can't patent Physics.
