What makes Mario 64 illogical? I can't think of anything in the game that doesn't have underlying logic to it. Granted, it's not like real world physics and doesn't use logic we might use in our everyday lives, but it does have its own logic system.
Personally, in every game I can think of, I can see logic. (Even the Sims. *cringe*) Maybe not logical physics in some games, but logical game mechanics at least. Just depends on which you're talking about it.
damn... I am pwnt...
But not ALL the torches.... heh...
all the explosions though...
and the HUD....
LOL but it was a LITTLE closer than descent...
i guess looking at it that way there probably hasn't been anything TRULY 100% 3D...
but Quake was like 99.3 or something
Just because a lot of people don't play online, doesn't mean a lot of people don't WANT to play online. Cost is probably preventing many people from playing online.
Most of my gamer friends live 100 miles north of me. I don't want to have to drive up there whenever I want to play multiplayer with them. Online play is a great alternative for those of us who live far from our gaming pals.
No other game here lately has had as much pointless fun to it as GTA and GTA:VC have had. Granted the stories may be over done and tired, but there's nothing like running down grandma after you steal her Hummer from her. It's good to see Rockstar's plans for the future.
When I played at QuakeCon, everyone was the default Doom model we've all come to know and love, but in a variety of colors. I remember Green, Red, and Blue. I don't remember the fourth though.
Wish I had mod points to give to you. These people think if they can't run a game on max graphics and get insane performance on the machines their mommies just bought them yesterday then the game completely sucks and they don't even give it a chance.
I ran the game on a 1.4GHz Athlon with a GeForce2 MX400. It ran FINE. I probably had the graphics turned way down, but I played through the whole single player campaign and a lot of multiplayer without a single slow down that last longer than half a second. I bet it still looked better on my computer and 15" monitor than it would've on a shitty console running on a TV.
Last year in the "Doom 3 Theatre" it was running on an ATI 9700, which had not yet been released then.
But Carmack probably hasn't even picked an 'official' prefered platform. If you check his latest.plan update (yeah i know from a while back but still) he's watching both companies closely and keeping up to date with them both.
Most of the people who actually lug their computers out to Texas for QuakeCon are there for the LAN Party in the BYOC area. Yes, it's a LAN party. There's more to the event than that, but in the BYOC area it's a 72 hour LAN party.
Regardless of what else is going on, MML is NOT bigger than QuakeCon. Thus, they aren't the biggest in the US.
And don't even begin to claim that most of the people at QuakeCon aren't there for the LAN. Maybe the 2700 people that were there that didn't bring their computers were there for the rest. But the other 1300 were definitely there for the gaming.
As for Dreamhack, were there actually 4000 computers there?
Or just 5000 people got tickets and only 4000 showed up and not all of them brought computers? I can't find specifics on the site.
hahaha. exactly what I was thinking!
Maybe he's just gearing up to run for President.
Of course not. He's going for Governor of California.

Descent had 2D sprites for pickup items. Sorry, please play again. Wait. Don't. Just accept the facts. Quake = first FULL 3D FPS.

Hooray for .hack//
True. And with that much power in one little PSP, sounds like it will double as an electric hand warmer.
Not saying you're wrong, but just asking; What makes you think Splash Damage made Q3F?

-- Dork. I realized there were 4 tourneys after I submitted the news. Sorry. Thanks for letting everyone know.
Hey that concept looks like Jenna Elfman.
