Originally I came from a Unix background. Many, many moons ago I explored the possibility of boning up on the MS-Windows ways of doing things. But, after a bit of some exploratory peeks and pokes, this became painfully clear to me; that whatever I learned, all of it was going go to waste, in its due time. And that was pretty much the end of my venture into the Windows landscape.
I have to disagree, as anything learned is an advantage you can leverage in future learning.. Also, during the time that 'xyz tech' is in vogue, you are employed and making money from it.. that's not a waste in my book..
Get people to buy in to it, then yank the carpet out. About time for me to drop all services as anymore you can find WIFI about anywhere you want. who needs 3g data ( or voice... with voip )
Well, i do agree it should have been done via mutual agreement, for the consumers benefit. But they didn't, and wont, so that is when the government must step in.
I'm not a fan of government intervention into our lives or commerce, but their job is to protect us and i would say mandating compatibility would fall under that scope.
Now if they can stop bandwidth overage charges, ( or remove caps completely ) and force everyone to be compatible with each other like it was with wired phone, so you can keep your phone...

What next? Havind done perfect eavesdropping, weâ(TM)re now working on a perfect countermeasure to it, to secure once and for all against any device imperfections. This will take some effort, too.

Creating what this kid does not require TONS of money, and besides is it a crime if his parents are funding his learning? Learning doesn't come free ya know.

in the old days doing things 'by hand' was the only way it got done. But i guess ill give him credit for the patience that it requires to do this sort of stuff. ( does bring back old memories however.. sore fingers, smell of burnt solder in the air.. )
I don't care if they contacted to support an Atari 800 for 40 more years. If they breach contract they are liable for damages. That the Itanium is going away is not relevant to the discussion at all. They agreed to do it, so they have to. ( unless there was some special clause in there tied to availability from Intel, which it sounds like there was not )
Its the apps that are not. ( not that the average Joe would understand tho ) But this is an interesting way to submarine your competition.. write bad apps and blame them..

You can exceed your limit on most any 'tiered' data plan pretty easily now, so does speed ratings really matter all that much?
