Are their new laws making it a criminal offense to even think about IP violations? Do we have federal IP cops going door to door to inspect everyone's computer that has internet access? Do we have them stopping people on the street to look at MP3 players? Do we have mandatory 'restricted access clients' installed on our PCs that have a internet connection to monitor our traffic PRE-encrypted and our files?
Yes, it CAN get worse. ( and will if we don't get this thing derailed in time )
You mean the company that on day one of my service ( they bought my local provider out, wasn't my choice ) bricked my modem and told me to call back in a week if i was still having troubles? ( as did several others that i know personally that had the same problem. Some on cable, others on DSL.. ) And gotta love that 'welcome letter' i got. "welcome to comcast, your rates are now increasing by 20 a month"
The same comast that hasn't stayed up for more then 3 days straight and i have to restart my modem?
The same comcast that throttles bandwidth?
Who cares if some monopoly is kicking the tires of 100g fiber, we 'little people' wont see any of it.
Or was it actually just the Democrats that rejected it?
Not that im wanting to start yet another political debate, just that it would be nice if we had a bit of accuracy here.
Its about as bad as a radio ad i heard the other day ' who will be our next president' and they had Hillary's and Osama's voices, but no republicans. Not that i like ANY of our choices, but the last i heard there were more people running then just those 2.
The status is lost if they actively filer and it goes to court, and they lose, unless they happen to get immunity from the feds first.. "for our protection"
Ban all open wifi, and institute roaming trucks to find them and arrest the people that have one. Require obtrusive clients to get online which can monitor all your traffic. Anything it cant,( such as unproved encryption ) is discarded automatically and reported to the authorities. Wont even matter what the content is, you are in violation.
Doesn't make it right of course as its an invasion of our right to expect a reasonable level of privacy as a private citizen not currently under investigation, just don't fool yourself into thinking it cant be enforced by the government.
That we know of. There could be millions of rogue processors out there just waiting for a command to "turn on", or self-destruct. How would we ever know from the outside?
Wasn't there some question about Levono's laptops recently and their potential to secretly spy on its users at a hardware level? While not exactly the same, it is similar.
As a consumer, in this poor economy we have going on here, if can get the 'same' thing for a 1/3 of the cost i don't think it matters much who's R&D budget was used.

Remember, the have more money to have better attorneys.
If they lose, this will 'shut them down', but if they win, we are screwed.
Shows have been interrupted for commercials for decades...
Annoying as all hell, but nothing new.
My main reason is it doesn't support any of the conglomerates. It's free, and legal.
Below that main reason you have the stuff like more resource efficient ( most of the time ), friendlier to more platforms for consistency.. etc etc.
It was a typo, geeesh.

Before he's as corrupt as the rest.
What is the problem? I don't see any reason an ISP should be monitoring/restricting my content in the first place. They are a carrier, nothing more.
What is next, will they ask for roadblocks to monitor content in my car?

Problem solved.
As a long time apple fan/customer I'm rather disappointed.
My old thinkpad workhorse didn't have internal floppy or CDROM either.
Idiots. I hope he got a free ride out of the ordeal.
While that is true, i was speaking more of the overall concept. There are always bad coders...
It may be undesirable by most of the kids around here, but there is nothing bad about coding COBOL for a living:
You are always in demand, unlike several other IT fields
Pays well
Stable work
Stable code.
Well, wont that just suck.
Cheaper chinese goods that are flooding in help keep prices down overall.
Enforcement wouldn't be too hard.

I hope it gets so bad that we are just flooded and 99% of the users are infected. millions of dollars lost.. death and destruction everywhere.
Perhaps then something might get done.
PC's are for WORK, not games.
Now, quit screwing around online and get back to work!
Then it would not be the same, would it?
My point is that i don't see that much more 'quality' in the official products these days.
As a consumer, in this poor economy we have going on here, if can get the 'same' thing for a 1/3 of the cost i don't think it matters much who's R&D budget was used.
In this day and age of shoddy products from most every manufacturer/importer, tell me why i should care?
Hmm only $195 for a 4gb version? Where do i buy one? I could care less about any 'infringing' as i don't believe in IP rights.
