Why should Microsoft 'offically' support a 3rd party application.
Sure, they shoud not make it difficult for the other companies to compete ( that pesky monopoly issue ), but to claim *fully supported* when they cant control the code is sort of silly.
If you cant patent object code, i wonder how much further of a stretch to call music and video object code would be, and then call into play the similarities between patents and copyrights.
The entire IP system could come crashing down if we ( the public ) win this..
And to thing Microsoft helped it by claiming on the record you cant patent it. cool!
Does it allow you to run Visual Studio yet? What about code from microsoft such as Office2007?
While its nice that you can *compile* something that is crossplatform ( though can do that now if you choose other languages ) the real trick is running existing.net code from vendors without having to screw with emulators, virtual machines, WINE, etc..
I have been a paying contributor back even before it was free and still owned by NaN. I still have my license 'key', which was a work of art in its own right. ( and a signed copy of the first blender book.. )
I think blender is a wonderful project and it deserves our support.
If you believe string theory ( or similar wave type theory ) then in time the vibrations will die out, and *poof* there goes the universe as we define it.
But im sure they committed other crimes.. But i dont expect any suits to be filed or any criminal indictments will be given. They are far to friendly with the courts, and are seemingly above ( part? ) of the law.
Bet they run around in 'fbi' jackets too. with 'riaa' on the back.
No Web links were ever provided to the blog. The blog was never assigned a domain name. The blog was never advertised to the public in any way. The material on the server was a proof of concept awaiting approval to move into production. The blog was only ever used for testing purposes. Should we have decided to make the move to production, then we would have paid the 25 Pounds that would have authorized us to run a version of the blog without the logos and links.
Remember #2 and #6, use it against them the next time the come knocking on your door. They violated his agreement ( and the law in general ) and ADMITTED it, yet its ok for them to do so because 'we were going to pay later if we liked it'. wtf? ( the internal use only arguement is irrelevant )
Well fine, that means i can sample YOUR wares for testing purposes and pay later if i like it.
In a serious sence, that were my thoughts exactally. The the *AA's audited.
Execpt i really doubt you could get the BSA to audit such a high profile friend. And even if they did do you honestly think you could trust the results? "after extensive research we found one accidental copy of winzip and have asked them to pay the 20 bucks to comply with requirements. And since it was an accident we have decided not to levy any fines in this case"
On a related topic, has anyone ever suffered thru a BSA audit? Assuming you let them on the property and give thm the 'keys' how do they go about their business? Mechincally how do they go about this 'audit'? I am just curious, i have no impending harassment ( and no violations either )
Remember when Microsoft was the 'alternative' to having to lease time on the mainframes?
It wasnt such a bad business ( and security ) model after all was it.
I'm glad that the world is now safe from terrorists and we can go after 'criminals' such as this.
What a waste of resources.
By the time they actually pay ( expect decades of appeals ) it wont amount to that much to them.
No kidding.. read my post again "....and then call into play the similarities between patents and copyrights...."
Are all of your posts this clueless and irrelevant?
Not that it really matters much as you have displayed your total lack of intelligence pretty clearly, but i was mildy curious.
True, except that is all unix/x11 based items, ive yet to see any cocoa apps there ( i could be wrong of course, things might have changed )

I disagree, i hear many people wishing for a online app repository of free apps for windows and osX
I know myself, id love to just type in pkg_add -r blaapp ( or use a fancy gui interface )

VB6 and VB.NET are not anywhere near the same underneath.
I doubt they are compiling old VB6/5 apps.

Actually, it became self-aware 2 revisions ago. It was due to a new python module that was finally included as default.
How about just learning it instead of complaining?
The interface is just fine. Yes there is a steep curve, but if you take the time you will see there is nothing wrong with it.
And it will be called ' brick your friend's PC '.
Great fun ahead !

The universe wont last forever either.
I dont see how, since they own the rights.
But im sure they committed other crimes.. But i dont expect any suits to be filed or any criminal indictments will be given. They are far to friendly with the courts, and are seemingly above ( part? ) of the law.

That was by a cop, this is by a private company.
This is entrapment ( though not in the *legal* sence since they are still a commercial entity ) and wrong.
This entire indstry needs to be taken down.
Forget 'free music', they are corrupt to the core.
Sounds like the accept a ( legit ) 'self-audit', which is good as id not want people running around invading our secuirty.
Not that i expect an audit, and im 100% legal at the office, but you never know what might be asked of you tomrrow.
I doubt we would evolve much being trapped on a ship like that.
Perhaps our grey matter might, since there woudlnt be much to do but think. ( and play service tech ) but i dont see much real evolution.
