    That would be the WTO that is "determining laws" across the boundries of other countries, not Bush. WTO agrements works in both directions. And do you really think it matters that there are legit uses? Lots of things have been banned beacuse of a 'few' bad apples. That is how most laws work actually.

    If you only have a shoestring budget in this arena, either you go with OSS, or do it yourself.

    It seems that all HD sofware companies are out to get as much $ as they can ( most often per seat... so your 300$ goal is not going to happen )

    And if you think track-it is expensive, ive seen a lot worse..

    Cant you just isolate the sensors from the computers? Even the displays can be run remotely..

    Put the computers/network stuff in a heated closet and run long lines out to the sensors?

    Bar that, dont use any moving parts in your computers that *have* to be out on the floor at least..

    Aside from that, why is anyone suprised? If their products can be negated so easy ( legally ), it will hurt their business.. Of course they are going to sue.

    If the 'next generation' already disregards the laws, then the RIAA has lost, and its just a matter of the cleanup. Once these people get into office the law will be changed, after its ignored for years and years.

    Wow, thats really safe..

    Some laptops ( and most pdas ) can turn them selves on at a predetermined time.. Just estimate the time for maximum impact, laptop turns on and detonates the 'extra' battery that is made up of C4.. now you have a nice big hole in the bottom of the plane..

    Personally they are short sighted, with out the military the wouldnt have the freedom to even devlop this.. How soon people forget you have to earn freedom, and be diligent to keep it.. Its not like air..

    The concept of "improvement' is somewhat subjective. Many would disagree that the move to CD's was an improvement over LPs. ( for example ).

    Yes, i need to do better with my proof reading. I type way too fast, and tend not to care about the outcome.

    Why would i want to switch to another platform when what i have fufills my needs already? I can complain about 'modern technology' all i want, and still not be part of it.

    How can you even pretend to say this is a valid timeline, when you represent only windows and macOS? ( oh, and KDE thrown in to appear like you are being thorough )..

    If you start including GEM, Workbench, GEOS, BEOS, OS/2, etc. you might be getting close.

    Hell, they even left out GNOME..

    I dont agree with that statement.

    While i agree it would really really damned hard to do it, you could create a VM that the host os wont reconize as being a VM. Sure, it would have to accomodate for each new PC out there as hardware changes, and that it would be a massively complex beast that more then likely could never be turned into a worm/virus/trojan that you wouldnt see coming a mile away, but it could be done.

    Never say impossible when logic says it could be done. Just say impractical..

    They will still happen. There are far more applications for fuel cells than trans-alantic flights.

    What will be more likely is eventually we will get our laptops back, ( but not PDAs or cell phones ) but there will be a block on wireless ( so you cant communicate with your other operatives ) and you cant bring your battries with you. You wil get a power port on the back of the seat in front of you.

    This is a good thing. The 'turbos' were a great learning tool back then, and rather useful too. Now that they are being brought back and updated to more modern systems, all i can say its its nothing but good..

    Many of us first learned 'modern' languages with those products..
