    Remember that most linux competitors dont make money off linux, its other things. So selling to a PC crowd as an alternative to buying vista for their current computer wont do much for them, so why spend the $ advertising?

    And since most new pcs will have the microsft tax anyway, its hard to get into the oem market too.

    I have no trouble at all with that idea.

    Assume peaceful intent and treat everyone else under that pretence, until shown otherwise, then obliterate them *completely* ( as a world effort, not just us doing the job ) to serve as an example of why you should behave in the world..

    ( yes we can debate what that 'proof' is, and if iran already has shown this, but im sure you get the point im making )

    They want to protect and spread their concept of right and wrong.. By force if needed. How is that different then what we are doing?

    Dont get me wrong, i *dont* feel comforable with them having the bomb either. But what gives us the *right* to judge them when our track record isnt spotless either and a lot of this stuff is 'perception' of who is right and who is wrong anyway.. My god or yours.. who is following the 'correct' one?

    No, its just an easy 'upgrade'. build in the speed, and when the customer pays more, you go in, spend a few days pretendending to do an upgrade when all you do is flip a swtich somewhere.

    ( yes im kidding, but it has been done in the past... intentoinally crippling hardware so that there is 'room for growth' when you pay more )

    And if other bodies ( such as xena ) happen to fall under that same class and we have to start *adding* planets to the list, so be it.

    This seems like a trend. Large publicly traded corps are getting sick and tired of being run thru the mill by wallstreet and the government.

    Going back to private means they can tell wallstreet to goto hell when they ask personal quetsions, and the governmental rules are much lighter too..

    Remember a true 'desktop environment' is more then eye candy. ( which is changeable pretty easy )

    Its about the underlying toolkits that allow you to create and integrate all the great applications that we all want to use. Changes like this are more intended for developers to get exited about, not the end users... ( tho agreed, in the end they benefit as well )

    Let the owner choose to have the damned thing ripped out of the car totally. Its my car, should be my choice. Its NOT a public saftey issue like brakes or taillights are, so its not required.

    i bet that violates some stupid 'tampering' law somewhere.

    I wonder when these things become mandatory on ALL cars, regardless of age, to get a plate.
