Thats a bogus concept, forcing one to have a connecton of some sort to even watch a damned movie, o listen to a song.
Will my car have to have wifi ( and a subscription to a mobile internet service ) just to lisetn to the traffic report at some point? What about trying to read a book in the park on a nice day, once they outlaw paper books since they 'cant be controlled and monitored'?
They need to leave this stuff alone, and be glad people use the internet to buy hard items which they do get some revenue off of.
if you make it too costly to do business, then the 'retail internet' goes away. Espcially in this economy, which will just get worse due to greedy stunts like this.
No law says they cant filter out what ever they want too, as long as they publsh the list to their subscribers ( and that may not be required, but good practice ) We aernt talking a goverment here. there is no 'censorship' clause..
All that has to be done is change the tax codes to relfect 'value' not 'cost'.
Actually they sort of do that now, if you get caught claiming you bought a car for 5 bucks thats is 'valued' at 50000, they can get you for fraud and tax evasion. Or at the least it rasies flags and you get your property searched and a major audit of your life..
As the government/corporations keep going down this road, we will all just have to go back something like the old BBS days where everything is private and you have to know someone to get in the door. Which to be honest, sounds good to me.
This is also getting out of hand. Next they will assign an arbritary value to OSS software ( well, lets see. windows is xxx and office is xxx and and and.. so this cd of linux is worth an estimated 10000, so you owe us 100 bucks or we put you in jail )
Sooooo since power.org really isnt free, as how most of us think of free, is there a free implementation out there somewhere like there is for SPARC ( leon2/3 )?

If he is truly talking the OS, its not that hard to make it smaller, or even switch to something like netbsd.
If he is talking the applications, then i guess its screwed, as people want the 'bloat' of modern applications/desktops its 2006, i don't think anyone is developing 'small' applications for the general public.

I agree totally that it was terrible. However i knew what they meant, and didnt even notice how bad it was written..
