I didnt think we had the brain mapped to that level yet..
Or is that why it will take another 10 years and they are hoping its done by then?
Once that is done, 'simulating' the brain should be practical.. Making it DO something of course would be more difficult.
And no, i didnt read the article. cant get there from here apparently.
Cant buy intel gear anymore..

Intel Claims No DRM

Nor anyone else's, if you want to be consistant..
Its all tainted at this point, unless you make your own.
And if you are using anything that is fairly new, I bet you have some components of DRM that you ( or the rest of us consumers ) dont even realize are there.
Sure, these reduce the desk footprint, but they still take up *space*.. Having something that wide in the space above your desktop may not be an option for everyone. Many of us have book shelves, walls, etc. in the way..
Besides, LCD's still arent as 'crisp' and 'responsive' as a good monitor.. Both can easily cause eye strain.
My regular 4th gen 20gb has NEVER caused me a second of grief..
I bought it the week they were released and have yet to have any troubles in daily use, save one time i caused my own troubles when i reformatted and didnt have the power pack handy.. doh!
But the actual device, works perfect...
However a note to apple: ditch the chrome on the back, it may be cool looking, but that stuff scratches just by looking at it sideways...
I happen to agree totally that 2000pro/server was the first and last decent OS that they have put out.
However supporting it forever and not forcing people to upgrade cuts into their profits.
I expect a deliberate attempt to neutralize 2000 ( and earlier ) to begin soon. Cant have those pesky people running around that arent on the 'upgrade train'.
Lets see the links to the court decision, and ill change my statement.
Ill still disagree that the GPL is of any value, and ill still continue to act that way, but ill willingly acknowledge that some moron judge made a ruling.
Restricting porn to the XXX TLD would be no different then moving the porn magazines to the back room at your local newsstand. Wouldn't be any free-speech issues since its just labeling, not censorship.
I would prefer that route, instead of having to make sure things 'safe for kids'. Just move the blatent stuff into the back room instead... Adults know where to go..
But id accept a comprimise, and have both.. 'kid' and 'xxx'.. Then everything else is in the grey area.
If they are true to form, this 'open format xml' will be non standard, and they will retain rights to the non standard extensions.
Ill put money down that its just a publicity stunt to make people think they are being 'more open'.
The important thing to ask always is 'how do they make money and increase market share/control off this decision'? If you cant find reasons, then its just marketing fluff.
Even when you are in the right, sometimes its not worth it financially to fight. Today's legal system its about right or wrong, its all about who can hold out the longest. Its just a large poker game, where the little guy is at a disadvantage from the start.
In thend you may 'win', but you may also be put out of business trying to pay the legal bill. So was it really worth it to stand up instead of 'caving' ?
While not 'news' its still a nice story, for those that missed it the last 15 times on here..
I bet there would DMCA issues with a product like that.
Gotta love all these acronyms. Its starting to sound like the government around here...
That was sort of what i was leading too when i mentioned 'make your own'.
Few of us can afford ASIC's..
Curious though, i didnt know a fully functioning ARM core was done.. Where did you find that at? The last i heard of was pulled by a C/D by Arm..

If i remember right, it was about a year or so ago that this company started getting press for their 'upcoming' product.
Was mostly just a spinning disk inside a globe to 'simulate' 3D.
What, did the room dissapear in some sort of visual vortex, then just reappear?
Or did it have a 'dont not disturb' sign on it all these years? And no one noticed until it fell off due to dry rot..
It just sounds fishy...

From what i thought, its just due to bogus battery life..
So spend 50 bucks and buy a new battery... Geesh.
But, if anyone wants to give me theirs, great.
Intel makes more then just ix86 chips.
With luck apple will stick with the more efficient PPC and not just become another 'commodity box' after the switch to a new *vendor*.

The *aa just has to download something you are 'offering' and complete the transaction.
'Problem solved'.
At 5 cents a node thats a steal....
thats not how it works here. We already paid for the book via taxes. There is no 'rental fee' when you check out books.
There is a fine if you bring it back late of course.. That could be deducted from the card.
But turning a library into a book rental shop isnt a good idea at all. would be bad for both tax payers and the low income types..
Umm id prefer an amercian court decision, one that actually means something...
Ummm did they forget about ARM, MIPS, PPC, SPARC?
There is a similar 'disposal fee' when you get new tires.
Even if you take your old ones with you, they charge you 'assuming' you will 'dump' them somewhere.

If rules were put into place that *all* porn sites used that TLD, it would be easy to filter out porn once and for all.
And yes, i realize that is just a pipe dream, but the idea is good.
Yes, they will, but at least afterwards you can go home, login, and make them cease to exist.
Or you can just learn to fight, but that takes all the humor out of the post.
Would like to see some pictures or drawrings.. Anyone can make claims.
