if Microsoft is really thinking about trying to patent and own this technology. I've thought about for years of making a computer controlled stylus that would encode information into clay tablets. Like the old cuneiform tablets that have been around for oh 3000+ years. Unlike Microsoft I would never try to own or monopolize this kind of technology, especially with the stupid broken corrupt corporate controlled US Patent system. Anyone who disagrees can kiss the shiny metal *ss of the beings who will dig up my tablets.
After looking at the site I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Do middle school kids really talk and act like that today or is this just some marketing dweebs wet dream. No other middle school generation could've ever been this dorky as what I saw on Sony's web site.
This reminds me of somethat that I've been thinking of for a while. By tracking various publicly available information, it should be possible to profile the current politician crop as to how corrupt they really are. For example, if a politician has attended the same parties that Abramoff attended or even was even in the same cities at the same time more than probability allows, then that would count towards that politician's corruption index. Say if that politician used the same lawyers that mob connected people use, then the index goes way up.
Factor in every piece of information of this type, test against known corrupt politicians like the Abscam people, Tom Delay, Randy Cunningham, Marion Barry, etc, throw in a little Baysian logic, and find the current corrupt crop of politicians. Be interesting to test George Bush and Dick Cheney against this index. Think about it.
Another excellent use for windows stickers. My personal favorite was taking the "Made for Windows XP" stickers off the laptops and sticking them on the toilets in the restrooms. A little drop of superglue made sure they would stay there even when the janitors cleaned.
All the micro-blackholes should evaporate but won't they leave a bunch of naked singularites floating around? What will all these singularities do to the earth?
A little secret known by some companies is that if they don't use commodity SW they can gain a big advantage over their competitors that do. The trick is in tailoring Free Open Source SW to match their business model instead of the other way around like you do with MS and other commodity SW. This approach does require someone knowledgeable enough to make it work.
I'm over 18 and the only music theft that I see is the theft of over 100000 years of music cultural heritage by the media companies and their pathetic attempts to charge us for the use of our own heritage. Don't give me any BS about the stealing from the artists, the real artists are getting screwed by the media companies too.

Worked fine with Firefox. Just had one 'next' box that I had to scroll to the right to find.
Holy smokes I feel like I just dissed Macintoshes or something. Are people really that sensitive about their GPS's? I mean the term 'GPS' in the sense as they are marketed which includes the receiver, processor, mapping engine, routing software etc. Next time M$ Windows blue-screens because I didn't breath right or something I'll remember it is because I'm technically inept and don't understand technology. Sheesh - some peoples kids.
Some time back when GPS's in cars were fairly new, I rented a Hertz car with a GPS while on a business trip to Colorado. I didn't ask for the GPS, they just gave it to me. At the end of my trip I decided to try out the GPS, so I programmed it to return me to the Colorado Springs airport. I missed the first turn to the airport but no problem, the GPS said it had an alternate route. So I followed the route until it said I had reached my destination. All I could see however was miles of nothing and a big chain link fence. The GPS insisted I was at the airport however. Finally I dug out the rental car map and it showed me that the GPS had led me to the back side of the airport. I almost missed my flight because of that stupid GPS.
And Democrats too. No big surprise here but this is just more proof that at least at the national level the Republicans are totally controlled by big corperate interests. Anyone who votes believing otherwise is a fool.
Jedi Knights were good about keeping their military secrets. They want everyone to believe that light sabers use some sort of super hot laser beam. However insiders know that light sabers are nothing more than a mono-molecular fiber in a stasis field. Try thinking variable knife. These were described long before Lucas came up with the term light saber.
Free markets and monopolies do not mix well at all. Monopolies can charge a lot more for their products than if they had competition, they do not have to worry about their products really fitting market needs, and they do have to worry about other employers stealing their employees as much so they can pay less. When you hear monopoly, think Al Capone as a metaphor. Monopolies are as much a threat to Capitalism as any socialist system ever was.
Actually if your are looking for someone to tell you what to believe or not believe then you probably should support Mr. Seigenthaler's suggestion for Congressional Control of everything. For those of us who like to form their own beliefs, the Wikipedia article will very quickly lead to other sources that hopefully will back up whatever is in the article. And if it is important enough to you, you can dig deeper by using Google, going to the library, etc. This is what the First Amendment is all about, having the freedom to access the information, and to have the information available.
Anyone who believes that Corporate Media is somehow better than Wikipedia in handling a complaint like Mr. Seigenthaler's should read this article from Wikipedia regarding the Atlanta bombings and Richard Jewell. Yes NBC made good on it's error but note the part about the Atlanta Constitution. I would much rather deal with an inaccurate story in Wikipedia than in the Corporate Press myself.
"John Seigenthaler Sr. was the assistant to Attorney General Robert Kennedy in the early 1960's. For a brief time, he was thought to have been directly involved in the Kennedy assassinations of both John, and his brother, Bobby. Nothing was ever proven."

A newspaper could have printed the same information that was in Wikipedia and it wouldn't have been libel or slander. The key is by using weasel words such as "alledged" or as in the quote - "thought to have been". Engage brain before posting next time Mr. "Try to keep up".
What is interesting is that he is a founder of the First Amendment Center. Apparently he feels that the First Amendment only applies to the Corporate press he was affiliated with. Personal press freedom don't count in his book. What he or his son are perfectly free to do with Wikipedia is to correct the incorrect portions of his biography or add a counterpoint to the disputed protions of it. Unfortunately that is not true with most of the Corporate press for the rest of us.

I can see the Slashdot postings now about thieves chopping off poor slum dwellers' thumbs in India so they can steal their debit card balances.
If I remember correctly Al Capone was considered a big charity giver. So are some of the present day Mexican drug barons.

Why can't a special version of Firefox do this? After what I've seen lately, I trust commercial SW products about as much as I trust Microsoft.
