"Give a try, watch a few episodes. You might actually enjoy it"
The problem is Its hard to pick up because of the ongoing plot lines. I had the same issue with DS9, if you missed a few episodes often it was just not that great to watch.
With TNG and TOS each show (pretty much) was a stand alone and could be appreciated as such. Sure there was character development and inside jokes and such to enjoy if you followed it closely, but no need to watch them in broadcast order to get full enjoyment.
That's what i dont like about Enterprise, I dont mind interesting plot arc, but whne i tune into it i feel like i have no idea whats going on and end up watching something else.
No, as i recall in the comic or was it the cartoon??.. anyway the suit was created from material that was in his ship when he landed on earth, giving it these super properties.
This is typical of a lot of moderately sensational "crimes". The media is not interested in fairly reporting and following thru. They just want to sell subscriptions and are simply interested in just making headlines the lemmings want to read then forget.
Its a "well he/they has been charged so that's it, he/they must be guilty, just give me the next sensational headline please" tabloid mentality of the masses.
Take a look at the Treo 600, is smaller then it looks in the pic, very sweet device... here's a link: http://www.handspring.com/products/communicators/t reo600_overview.jhtml
Hmmm... I don't believe that for a second, a few years back when I was into downloading movies...*cough*... I often saw these academy screeners. They had an identifying number and a phone number to call with that number if the movie was being illegally being distributed.
I think the weight of these devices should be a listed spec, small size is nice but if its 10X as heavy as a memory stick, well it's still not that usefull.
It will be more interesting when later photos. show some of those rocks are slowly moving toward the ship......and shortly afterward no more transmissions are received.....
If you are a current T-Mobile customer, you can add Hotspots for 19.99 per Month for use (of course) with T-Mobiles' partners ie kinkos borders et al...No data charge just flat rate per month
If this was me, i might forward this info(anonymously)to a major metro rag, ie the Toronto Sun..first maybe determine which writer might be interested in following up.
I used to be a heavy bandwidth user, using aprox 30-40GB/mth over a period of a couple years. I always considered that for $40/mth CDN this was a great deal for me both with the 1Mb DSL ( sympatico) and 3Mb (Rogers) i used at various times.
Now a days i am busy almost full-time and i just don't have the time or inclination to play on the Net as much. I had considered going to dialup; but frankly at any price, (i was offered a free unlimited dial-up from a pal in the biz) it is just to limited for most anything except sending/receiving text. (Try dialup if it's been a while, you should quickly see what i mean)
So over the past few months i have contemplated dumping my Rogers Cable because its hard to justify the expense, but i kept it up anyway because when i do want to d/l something i want it today and if i want to browse some Flash/etc laden sites i still want reasonable performance.
Up to present nothing existed in the middle ground..by that i mean with reasonable bandwidth (broadband) Say 1/2 to 1/3 of my Rogers Cable and at 1/2 to 1/3 the price. Well now it looks like it has !!
This is good news for me and i am sure will spur the other broadband providers in the area to compete with this offering...I like it !
I beta tested OpenFTPD (http://openftpd.org) which incorporated a "traceroute check which will allow you to ban hosts on the route from the client to the server"
This feature was requested by Euro site operators who were being charged for overseas bandwidth usage. It evolved to the point you could FXP between Euro sites while logged in from a prohibited overseas IP. It worked very well for them because it was easy to pinpoint the main router(s) site(s) used for trans-Atlantic transfers. No way you could xfer anything without passing these points.
Anyway it does seem to me that blocking IP/location access from the server end (or international gateway routers) rather then at the client (net nanny/ISP block, et al) is going to be the way Big Bro will try to censor the net in the future. It voids proxys because you cant contact a site out side your region for any reason.
For web sites like casinos/n0rp/warez/etc its also an easy way to remove liabilities and potential hassles for site owners while still allowing plenty of income traffic. I think we are going to see a lot more of this.
Out of all this my paranoid side pictures a day when the "internet" is not really Global anymore but Regional and you will require authorisation kinda like a passport to leave your country via the internet to a country that does not support your governments views.
Wizardry 8 - Why Aren't All the Geeks Playing it ?
on
Good Games For Christmas?
·
· Score: 3, Interesting
Wizardry was the THE game back in the day. This was the first "real" computer game i ever saw being played and as i recall that was on the Apple II
My UberGeek pal recieved a Diploma of sorts for finishing up or scroring high in one of the series. IIRC.
I was never a huge geek myself, but 2 weeks ago i rushed right out to grab it at EB, only to find no one else i know is playing it ?? I guess FPS and such have realy over run a good ole RPG in terms of popularity.
Or maybe everyone is all tuckerd out fm playing Baldurs Gate 2, perhaps a more intelectual RPG. ?
We(being the psuedo-gov organisation i support) just migrated 4500 users from an OS2 Domian to NT4. The OS2 boxes and domain are still "on line", although not used for authentication for the last week but smply in case we need to back out:P
It was ugly and hard to use..

Agreed !
I intended to just have a quick look at a couple pics, but I found it so compelling and spooky I just could not stop until I reached the end.
Right now I feel a bit spooked out, like i just watched a really scary movie or just work up from a bad dream or something...

So did it first show up on warez sites or usenet or just suddenly show up on a "pub" (public FTP site) ?
Any idea, anyone ?
Lets attribute this properly shall we:

Sure, but what percentage of the INTERNET population does the US represent ?
"One looking at the condoms and stickers in my nightstand"
Ok, the condoms I get, however I have never used stickers....are they used in conjunction with the condoms or applied separately ?
More info please !!
